Happy almost Summer!☀️

Open your windows, roll out your mat, and join me for a yoga party!🥳

I’m leading a live, virtual 60-minute classic Find Your Free™ yoga flow that includes meditation, moderate movement, and guided rest. In celebration of the Summer Solstice, we’ll explore sun salutations, embodied movement, and spirit-awakening practices to welcome the season ahead. We’ll be meeting via Zoom on Sunday, June 21 at 10 AM ET. This class will be recorded if you’re not able to join the live event!🧘🏽‍♀️

Since we’re also celebrating fathers on this day, invite your favorite dad to join in on the fun. That’s the great thing about virtual classes. Two people can share a screen for the price of one.😉

And while you’re at it, grab the Find Your Free™ organic cotton tote for all your summer needs! Great for a beach trip or a run to the market. Use the limited-time code PEACEFUL10 to save 10% on your purchase.🌿

All the things can be found at the link in my bio. DM me with any questions!🦋

I’ve been leading yoga and wellness sessions for 13 years. Outside of teaching, creating playlists for my yoga classes is one of my most favorite things to do. While it’s important to hold spaces of silence, so that the mind has an opportunity not to consume or process, a playlist can help to create a totally submersive experience.✨

Stay tuned for more recommendations!🤎

Your journey with your locs is just like any other relationship. It takes time, patience, love, nurturing, and yes, even some questioning to make sure you’re in the right place. My hair is naturally curly and I wasn’t sure if locs would take with my texture. But they did. And 6.5 years later, here we are.😍

The story of finding my free is a continuous evolution.🦋

Happy Monday, loves. Let’s make it a great week.🫶🏽

On Tuesdays I like to share stories about the life experiences that have helped me find my free. There are stories about quitting my six-figure corporate job to pursue my passion or figuring out life as a newly divorced single mom, and so much more.

But this Tuesday happens to fall on what would’ve been my nephew’s 49th birthday. I’ve been committed to honoring his life since the day we lost him 31 years ago. He just turned 18 and I was right behind him in a few months. He was like a brother to me. I miss him all the time.

Grief, ironically, plays a part in our quest to live a life that feels aligned with the calling of our soul. It teaches us how to coexist with pain and heartache. It challenges us to keep going when we want to give in. And, if we allow ourselves, it can lead us to hope. Even if it’s simply the hope that life can continue to work without the same people in it.

So for today’s Tuesdays With Rachel, I want to say Happy Birthday to my nephew-brother, Demere. I love and miss you every day. Our time was brief, but I’m glad we had it. Keep flying high.🕊️🦋🤍

I survived a difficult marriage and divorce in the early 2000s. I was left broken and had to find my way back to myself - all while raising my toddler son on my own.

I didn’t give up on finding love. But I had to learn to love myself in a way that would help me attract the romantic love I truly desired. Once I did, I found my person. And was pleasantly surprised that I’d already met him once before.

The journey of Find Your Free™️ is about finding yourself. It’s about experiencing life in a way that feels aligned with the calling of your soul. And like healing, it’s a journey that’s never-ending. The more you come home to yourself, the more you’ll find your people along the way.❤️

New Find Your Free™️ virtual yoga sessions are coming soon.🦋

We made it to Spring, y’all.💐

Longer days with more sunlight are ahead. Plant the seeds for what you want to grow in your life. Create or re-create your vision. Dream about the life you want for yourself and give yourself permission to go after it. And when you feel unsteady or unsure, walk barefoot outside or place your hands on a tree to ground yourself. Nature is about to show us all of her glory. Let her be your guide.💚🌿✨

On January 30, I was in the middle of teaching a yoga class when I felt a sensation in my head that almost knocked me off balance. I pushed through and finished teaching even though I knew something wasn’t right. I rushed home afterwards and that sensation immediately ramped up to be the worst headache I’ve ever experienced in my life. It came with nausea and vomiting, and just two days later, I’d lost 7 pounds from not being able to eat or keep anything down. I kept getting headache attacks that lasted for hours and hours on end. And those attacks continued for three straight weeks. I remember being in my bathroom one night thinking that my time here was done. The pain was debilitating, scary, and mysterious. Urgent care, the ER, and my doctor all treated the pain like it was a migraine but I wasn’t responding to any of the treatments. I don’t have a history of migraines and I really began to fear what was happening in my brain.

Thankfully, MRI and CT scans were clear. I still don’t know exactly what happened but I was able to see a neurologist, who is currently treating me for “status migrainous,” a more aggressive form of a migraine headache and one that doesn’t respond to typical treatment. I’m feeling better than I have in weeks, but I’m not out of the woods yet.

There were days and moments where the pain was so bad, I felt like I couldn’t even breathe. I was worried about not being able to keep up with my responsibilities and desperately tried to tap into all of my yoga practices. The one I ultimately had to access was surrender. Work and taking care of my home would have to wait. I had to learn to sit with the pain and focus on my healing. This has been my yoga.

Yoga is much more than just movement. It’s a mindful breath. It’s sitting with grief or pain. It’s finding a place of stillness deep within when you’re in the ER, antsy from a medication and wanting to rip the IV out of your arm. It’s surrendering to what is. I’m still very much on the road to recovery. But I’m grateful for the practice that always returns me to myself.🧘🏽‍♀️

How has yoga been of service to you?🦋💜
