How the Wrong Trainer Can Kill Your Confidence: A Cautionary Tale - The Plaid Horse Magazine 05/28/2026

I find this sad. Yes you need to be honest with your riders, yes you need to pick them up when they are down after a bad ride with a new plan for practice at home, yes you need to address underlying issues because sometimes therapy is needed and we aren’t therapists. Charging for excessive schooling rides, multiple lessons etc make a person very needy on the trainer- trainers need to let most riders learn and have the time between lessons and shows to practice what they are learning in lessons. How else do you make capable, thinking riders?

🐾 Big week ahead for our sweet foster boy, Otis!

He heads to the vet tomorrow for his neuter surgery and the start of his heartworm treatment. This is a big step toward getting him healthy and ready for his forever home!

He will need 6 weeks of crate rest and quiet recovery after his treatment to heal safely, so please send Otis all your good vibes for a smooth surgery and recovery!

Medical care is expensive, and donations of any size would be deeply appreciated to help cover his veterinary bills.
