POCAHONTAS COUNTY PARKS & RECREATION IS HIRING A FULL TIME MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
Position: Full-Time, Year-Round
Reports To: Director, Pocahontas County Parks & Recreation
POSITION SUMMARY
Pocahontas County Parks & Recreation is seeking a dependable, skilled, and motivated Maintenance Technician to maintain and improve our parks, facilities, grounds, and equipment. This position will work across PCPR properties, including Stillwell Park, Widney Park, East Cass Community Park, Little Levels Academy Park, and the Community Wellness Center.
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for keeping facilities safe, clean, functional, and welcoming to the public and may supervise seasonal or part-time maintenance staff as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Perform mowing, trimming, landscaping, groundskeeping, and general park maintenance.
Clean and maintain restrooms, shelters, buildings, and other public facilities.
Repair and maintain playgrounds, tables, shelters, ramps, athletic areas, buildings, and park infrastructure.
Operate, maintain, and perform light servicing on mowers, tractors, trimmers, power tools, and other maintenance equipment.
Perform routine maintenance including painting, flooring, light bulb and filter replacement, equipment greasing, and general repairs.
Perform snow and ice removal and seasonal preparation/winterization of facilities and equipment.
Remove fallen trees, limbs, trash, and other hazards.
Maintain gravel areas, roads, walkways, and other park surfaces as needed.
Maintain fitness equipment at the Community Wellness Center.
Test and treat water at Stillwell Park and maintain the required WV ID Water Operator Certification.
Assist with park events, facility setup, and special projects.
Perform routine safety inspections and report hazards or significant maintenance issues to the Director.
Follow all applicable safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid West Virginia driver's license.
Previous maintenance, landscaping, construction, or related experience preferred.
Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, landscaping equipment, and maintenance machinery.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to lift, carry, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and perform other physical duties required by the position.
Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications, including First Aid/CPR and WV ID Water Operator Certification as applicable.
Must successfully complete any required background check and drug screening in accordance with applicable law and County policy.
Reliable transportation is required. A personal vehicle with towing capability may be required for assigned duties.
WORK SCHEDULE & CONDITIONS
This position is primarily outdoors and requires physical labor. Work hours may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and schedule changes based on weather, emergencies, special events, and operational needs.
