🔥 Well… I guess it’s time to find out what I can do on my own. 🔥

Just signed up for the Frosty Butts BBQ Competition! 🐷🔥❄️

Here’s something most people probably don’t know — I’ve never actually competed 100% on my own.

Every competition I’ve done, I’ve either been helping another team or been part of a bigger team. My work schedule only allows for a couple of competitions a year at most. I’ve cooked plenty of BBQ, competed, learned a ton, made some mistakes, and probably drank way too much “coffee” along the way… but I’ve never rolled in with just me, my cookers, and my decisions.

So… time to change that.

I’m starting small and jumping into the Backyard Division. No big expectations. No pressure to conquer the BBQ world.

Just me finding out if all these years of talking about BBQ actually taught me anything. 😂

I’m ridiculously pumped for this one.

Win, lose, or completely screw something up — it’s going to be a hell of a good time.

Stoney Creek BBQ Cookoff… CornFed BBQ is coming. 🔥🐷❄️

Time to see what I’ve got. November 7 can’t come soon enough.

Some Sundays you gotta keep it lowkey. 😎

Smoker doing the work.
Fan keeping me alive.
Charger keeping the batteries alive.
Cold drink keeping morale high. (Not pictured… for legal reasons.) 😂🍻

No rushing. No complicated plans. Just sitting in the shade, smelling smoke, and occasionally looking at the smoker like I actually have something to do.

If the meat’s smoking and the drink’s cold, I’m exactly where I need to be. 🔥🥩

Life’s too short to eat mediocre steaks. 🥩

This Double R Ranch ribeye from Snake River Farms had marbling for days and the Weber Kettle did exactly what it was born to do. Simple fire. Killer crust. Zero regrets.

Your $9 gas station steak is filing a complaint. 😂

“Forget garlic bread… throw sourdough on the grill. 🔥 Picked up this loaf from the Blue Ridge Community and Technical College culinary school and it’s got unreal flavor. Simple. Crispy. Smoky. Perfect. 🤌

Burgers don’t need much… just fire, beef, and a little Hoffmaster's House Of Spice BBQ Rubs magic. The neighbors can smell this video. Best beef rub in WV!! You can find this and all the flavors at Orr's Farm Market Taylors Farm Market The Pick & Shovel Mercantile and Glazed Empire Bakery😏🔥🍔

She’s ivory. She’s classy. She’s about to smell like paradise and poor financial decisions. 🔥🥩 Welcome to the family.

I looked in the freezer and found a couple lonely lobster tails…

Most people would’ve saved them for later.

I fired up the Gateway.

Mixed together a quick dill mayo. Whipped up some compound butter with Hoffmaster's House Of Spice BBQ Rubs Seafood Rub. Tossed those tails over live fire and let the smoke do its thing.

The smell alone told me this was about to be something special.

Pile it on a toasted roll, drizzle a little more butter, and take that first bite…

Game over.

The smoke from the Gateway and that Hoffmaster’s seasoning were made for lobster. Sweet, buttery, smoky, with just the right kick.

I was lucky to get one bite before everyone else found out what was for lunch. 😂

Next time, I’m buying enough lobster tails to cover the entire grill.

🚨📦 THE MEAT DROP IS HERE! 📦🚨

Y’all… this shipment is on another level. 🔥

The folks at Snake River Farms absolutely hooked us up with some unreal Kurobuta pork ribs… and then they went ahead and tossed in some Prime ribeyes and sirloins just to make sure our smoker stays busy. 😎

Look at that marbling! 🤯 That’s not just pretty to look at—that’s flavor, tenderness, and juicy bites in every single cut.

Kurobuta isn’t your average pork. It’s premium Berkshire pork that’s famous for incredible marbling, rich flavor, and a buttery texture that takes BBQ to a whole different level.

If these ribs cook half as good as they look… we’re all in for something special.

Now the only question is…
🔥 What hits the smoker first? 🔥

Stay tuned… because Cornfed BBQ is about to put this meat to work.

Well…we didn’t finish dead last. 🤷‍♂️

This weekend at the Almost Heaven BBQ Bash we went up against some of the best BBQ teams on the eastern side of the country, and they absolutely brought their A-game. After almost two years away from real competition BBQ, I can confidently say I was rusty as an old smoker left out behind the shed. And trust me, it showed.

The good news? We thought the food tasted fantastic. The bad news? BBQ judging doesn’t care what the cook thinks. 😆

A huge thank you to Hoffmaster's House Of Spice BBQ Rubs for supporting Cornfed BBQ. Their seasonings are top-notch and played a big part in every box we turned in. The only thing that didn’t perform as well as expected was the guy shaking them on the meat.

Congratulations to all the teams that heard their names called this weekend. It was an honor to compete alongside such talented pitmasters and a great reminder of just how high the level of competition really is.

We’ll dust ourselves off, shake the rust out of the trailer, and see if we can squeeze in another competition or two before the end of the year. Until then, we’ll keep cooking, keep learning, and keep chasing that walk.
