From the Y Archives - 1954: Generations of Snohomish County kids have taken their first strokes at the Y, and Karen was one of them. In 1954, she was one of 600 kids who learned to trade nerves for confidence in the "Learn-to-Swim" classes.

Looking for a fun and active way to keep your child moving during the school year? Registration is now open for our next session of swim lessons at the Marysville Family YMCA!

Swimming is a great year-round activity that helps kids stay active, build confidence, learn new skills, and become safer and more comfortable in the water.

We offer lessons for a variety of ages and skill levels, from swimmers just getting started to those ready to continue developing their strokes and endurance.

🎉 🎉 🎉 Introducing our September 2026 YMCA Staff of the Month, Monté W.! 🎉 🎉 🎉

"Monté has been a great addition to our team ever since she has joined as a swim instructors. The kids just love having her as a teacher! After becoming a lifeguard, Monté has helped to encourage a safe and fun environment for all and she is an amazing team member to have! She is a great pick for Staff Member of the Month!" - Ashelyn L.

"Monté is one of the strongest swim instructors we have! She is phenomenal with the kids and creates a fun atmosphere. She is a team player and is always willing to help out wherever she can. What a great pick for Staff Member of the Month!" - Kori L.

"Monté is one of our most dedicated swim instructors. She is fabulous across all levels, from our Parent/Child classes all the way up to Stage 6 and getting kids ready for swim team. She's calm, patient, and a wonderful team player. This year she also got her lifeguard certification and has already been on deck for two emergencies where 911 was called. She always steps up to the plate and leads even when out of her comfort zone, such as helping to lead several days of our 3rd Grade Swim program this past spring. We are so fortunate to have Monté on the team. Congrats on earning Staff of the Month!" - Nick D.
