I used to have a complicated relationship with my birthday - I’d cry without fail lol, have high expectations that were impossible to meet and it was always very Virgo coded (critical!!).
Now, I do my best to stay in charge of my emotions no matter what happens and choose to have a good day. I plan things that I love that feel authentic to me, which mostly looks like doing what I normally do: working out, eating well, being with and hearing from people I love.
Last year I celebrated my 40th and did a little more - that felt fun for 40.
This year I reflected on the last year, tortured myself by running 6 miles because it does make me feel calm lol, got my free Starbucks drink, one of my closest friends came to visit me, I iced my cake, watched Allegedly on Netflix, and spent the day with Josh. He took me to my favorite restaurant and we ordered too much for 2 people.
As I get older, I’ve learned that you just really have to go for it, whatever it is, no matter the age. You don’t know how much time you have. Speak up, do what you want, give it all you’ve got.
40 felt like a new life to me - why wouldn’t i go full send!?
You’ll never actually feel ready to do what you want to do - but then you’ll start to feel unsettled when 5 years go by and you’re still in the same spot, telling yourself 5 years is too much time.
Don’t let the routine nature of life deter you from working hard to get what you’ve always wanted. Don’t let your attention be stolen from you when you could be directing it to things that matter.
Rest hard when it’s time to do that.
I always feel better when I’m in motion, excited, engaged, and an active participant of life than when I’m stagnant, stuck, or believing that everything bad happens TO me (that was how I felt for a good majority of my years).
We all have so many things outside of our control - but so many things ARE in our control, it just feels harder to take responsibility for them and DO the things that make us feel good.
By doing so, we can fight for the life we want.
I’m grateful for so many things - thank you for supporting me to do what I love every day. 💜
