Every time you skip a workout because it “doesn’t count” unless it’s perfect, you’re reinforcing a rule that’s going to sink you eventually — because life never stops handing you 20-minute days, tired days, not-feeling-it days.

If the only workout you’ll do is the ideal one, you’ve built a program that only works when everything else in your life is also going perfectly.

That’s a steep, uphill battle.

Here’s what a half-committed workout actually gets you:

• It keeps the habit alive. Missing one day rarely derails anyone. Missing the pattern does. Showing up, even for 15 minutes, keeps the pattern intact.

• Something is not nothing. Three exercises beats zero. A walk beats sitting. You don’t need the whole session to get a real, measurable return.

• It removes the guilt spiral. People don’t just skip the workout — they skip the next one too, because now they’re “off track” and waiting for a clean restart. Showing up tired/short on time/unmotivated breaks that spiral before it starts.

• It proves the identity, not just the fitness. Every time you show up on a bad day, you’re telling yourself “I’m someone who trains,” not “I’m someone who trains when it’s convenient.” That identity is what actually carries you long-term.

Keep workin’ 🤝

Saw a headline this week claiming collagen protein builds muscle way better than whey — 6 times better. That’s a wild claim, so I dug into it.

Turns out it’s based on 4 small studies, less than 30 people each. If you pull just ONE of those studies out and the whole result falls apart.

Whey, meanwhile, has actual support — a much bigger analysis, 78 studies, almost 4,800 people. Adds maybe a pound of muscle and a couple pounds on your lifts beyond just training alone. Nothing magic. Just... works, a little.

That being said — most people in these studies were only eating about 97g of protein a day. That’s fairly low compared to what most people actually need if they’re training.

Conclusion - before you go drop money on collagen powder chasing a 6x headline, hit your protein number first. That’s still where 90% of your results come from.

Harvard tracked 147,000 people for 30 years. The group doing 90-120 minutes of strength training a week had a 13% lower risk of dying early. Going way past that didn’t add much more benefit.

That’s roughly 3 sessions, 30-40 minutes each.

A Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday.

You don’t need 2 hours a day. You need consistency at a dose you’ll actually keep up.

Hence, CONSISTENCY IS SLAY.
