"Meet Our Team!"

Meet: Leah Clark

Position: Medicaid Waiver Case Manager

Length of time at the ADD: Stated working at the ADD in 2014.

Job Description: Leah is responsible for providing case management activities for individuals with physical, intellectual. or developmental disabilities who are receiving services through Medicaid waiver programs. This includes formulating a plan of care based on the participant's needs and wishes; monitoring their health, safety and welfare through home visits and monitoring of service delivery; maintaining all records and entering documentation into the Medicaid Waiver Management Application; partnering with service providers and agencies to best serve the participant; process employee enrollment and approval; provide technical assistance to the participant, provide resources outside of waiver services, and any other assistance that may be required.

Fun Facts about Leah:
*Received her Bachelors of Social Work from Morehead State University and obtained her License in Social Work in 2010.

*She is the proud mother of one daughter, Preslee.

* Her favorite place would be any beach on the Gulf Coast.

*Leah's hobbies include naps and researching supplements that will make her young again.

*It is Leah's goal is to show love and acceptance to everyone she meets, and to keep learning!

Parents and caregivers of children with autism — check out this opportunity from the EKU Psychology Clinic!

The Compass for Hope (C-Hope) Group is a virtual program designed to support parents and caregivers while building practical skills they can use at home.

C-Hope focuses on understanding your child, developing individualized strategies for challenging behavior, encouraging positive behavior, reducing caregiver stress, and connecting with other parents who understand the journey.

Sessions include a combination of individual appointments and parent group sessions, all held virtually through Zoom for Healthcare. The program is led by EKU clinical psychology and occupational therapy doctoral students under the supervision of Dr. Myrabeth Bundy.

📅 The fall program begins with intake appointments in September, with sessions running October through early December.

In 2023, 𝟰𝟴𝟭 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝟭𝟬–𝟭𝟰 𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀. Su***de was the 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 for this age group.

And among 𝗨.𝗦. 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘆𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯:

𝟭 𝗶𝗻 𝟱 (𝟮𝟬%) seriously considered attempting su***de during the previous 12 months.

𝗡𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝟭 𝗶𝗻 𝟭𝟬 (𝟭𝟬%) reported that they had actually attempted su***de during the previous 12 months.

Those numbers are hard to read. But they’re important to talk about.

These are kids sitting in classrooms, playing sports, going to youth group, hanging out with friends, scrolling on their phones, and sometimes carrying things the adults around them know nothing about.

Talk to them. Not just when something seems wrong.

Ask how they’re really doing. Listen without immediately trying to fix it. Pay attention when something changes. And if you're worried about su***de, don't be afraid to ask them directly.

Our kids need to know there is nothing they could tell us that would make them less loved or their life less worth fighting for.
