“I started dancing at DCDA when I was just two years old, and this year marks the beginning of my 25th year with the studio. I am incredibly grateful for the countless lessons I have learned from Ms. Deborah and her amazing instructors over the years. While they taught me strong dance technique, they also instilled values that have shaped who I am both personally and professionally.
During high school, I was honored to be a two-time UCA All-American cheerleader, and the foundation I built through dance helped me become a stronger, more confident cheerleader. After graduation, I continued my dance education at the collegiate level while remaining a part of the DCDA family.
Earning my degree in Communication Studies, combined with my dance training at DCDA and my passion for the art of dance, has helped shape the person I am today. Dance taught me confidence, discipline, perseverance, and the importance of hard work qualities that continue to guide me in every aspect of my life.
Today, I have the privilege of giving back as an instructor at DCDA. It is incredibly rewarding to watch the next generation of dancers grow in both skill and confidence, just as I did. My journey has truly come full circle, and I am honored to share this beautiful art form with so many amazing children while helping them build the same lifelong lessons that DCDA gave me.”

DCDA Summer Intensive 2026 ✨

We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to provide our dancers with experiences that allow them to learn from some of the very best artists and educators in the dance industry. Watching them grow, be inspired, and challenge themselves throughout this Summer Intensive has been truly special.

We believe opportunities like these are a blessing from God, and we are so thankful for the talented guest faculty, supportive families, and dedicated dancers who have made these two weeks so meaningful. 🔥 HIP HOP WORKSHOP WITH ORLANDO MORENO 🔥

Join us on August 14 from 6:30–8:00 PM for an exciting one-day Hip Hop Workshop with Orlando Moreno!

Originally from Laredo, Texas Orlando has trained extensively in Los Angeles at some of the industry’s most respected studios, including Millennium Dance Complex, Debbie Reynolds Legacy Studios, Edge Performing Arts Center, and Movement Lifestyle. With years of experience as a performer, educator, and mentor, Orlando is passionate about helping dancers build confidence, strengthen their foundation, and discover their unique artistic voice. He is currently based in Houston, Texas, at Boni’s Dance & Performing Arts Studio Inc.

This workshop is open to ALL dancers in the RGV—you do not have to be a current DCDA student to attend!

Alumni Spotlight: Sophia Rios 🧑‍🩰✨

“I started dancing with Deborah when I was just two years old, and looking back, it was one of the greatest gifts my parents ever gave me. From my very first class, dance became such an important part of who I am. As I grew, so did my love for the art form, and I cherished every step of the journey.

Like so many dancers at DCDA, performing in The Nutcracker was my introduction to a world filled with endless possibilities. The discipline, artistry, confidence, and passion I carry with me today were all shaped during my years at DCDA. It was a place that challenged me, inspired me, and helped me discover my potential both as a dancer and as a person.

After graduating high school, I moved to New York City to pursue a degree in the performing arts and graduated from the Joffrey Ballet School in 2025. During my training, I had the opportunity to perform works by George Balanchine and Gerald Arpino and learn from incredible teachers who became mentors and role models. I am deeply grateful to have grown up in an environment that not only nurtured my artistic growth but also encouraged me to dream bigger than I ever thought possible.”

Every ballerina starts with a dream. Sophia first walked through our doors as a little girl with a love for dance, and through years of hard work, dedication, and passion, she turned that dream into reality. Her journey is a reminder that with the right training and encouragement, a young dancer’s dreams can truly take flight. 💕
