Ferst Readers addresses one of the most basic issues of childhood literacy--ensuring the availability of quality books in the home so that parents can read to their child.

That’s why our Henry County Rotary is happy to participate in this years’ Ferst Readers of Henry County Book Character contest.

Your “VOTE ” ($10 donation) helps Ferst Readers make a difference in lives of children, by helping them achieve early learning success through the gift of literacy.

You can VOTE as many times as you wish, for as many characters as you wish!

On a Saturday October 17th, 2026 Henry County Rotary will host Peace Pole Installation and Peace Garden Event. Here’s what to expect.

This event will attended by
Rotarians, Girl Scouts, Master Gardeners and Veterans Museum members.
The peace pole will be installed the day before the event.

Event Agenda
Sign-In and Refreshments: 10 am to 10:30 am
Presentation: 10:30 am to 11:00 am
● Mike Griffin, Henry County Rotary President is the Master of Ceremonies (MC)
● MC introduce the Veterans who will say the blessing and give the pledge
● Blessing by a Veteran
● Pledge of Allegiance by a Veteran
● MC will introduce the Girl Scout leader Rick Perry
● Rick will introduce the girls, explain their involvement and what badge they will receive.

Members of the Girl Scouts will lead the group in an appropriate Girl Scout pledge or promise
● MC will introduce Debbie Donaldson, Service Project Chair
● Debbie will explain the inspiration behind the Peace Pole and Garden Project and
introduce Amanda Harris with the Art Inclusive
● Amanda Harris and the Peace Pole artist who designed and created the Peace Pole will talk about the organization and inspiration for the design
● MC, Debbie & Amanda will present the Peace Pole designer with a Scholarship Check
● Debbie will introduce Master Gardener Ann Marie Ellis or Sherry Apanay
● A Master Gardener will speak about the organization, describe the vision for the Nolan house garden. She will also give the Girl Scouts the story behind the plants they will be planting and instructions on how to plant.
● MC will thank everyone for attending and invite them to tour the Veterans Museum
Museum Tour: 11:30 am to 12:30 pm

Meet our President on today’s Member Spotlight

A busy Monday meeting with plenty of heart and service!

We presented a check to Hands of Hope Clinic to support their mobile clinic, helping bring healthcare to those in need.

Dr. Lumpkin presented our president, Mike Griffin, with a Brick of Honor in recognition of Rotary’s support of the Henry County Board of Education.

We also welcomed speakers, Tammy and Christa, from the Henry County Senior Services, who shared about their centers, the needs of homebound seniors, and opportunities to adopt a senior for the holidays. A meaningful way to bring joy and connection to someone’s season.

From healthcare to education to caring for our seniors, today was a wonderful reminder of what Service Above Self looks like in our community.
