Our special Zumba class at the McKinney YMCA was filled with energy, smiles, and plenty of PINK! 💃🩷 Thank you to everyone who joined us as we moved together in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Every step was a reminder of the strength, courage, and hope that unite our community.

We are so grateful for our YMCA family and the opportunity to come together, raise awareness, and show support for everyone impacted by breast cancer. 💕 Together, we are stronger!

Youth sports are about more than learning skills and competing. They’re an opportunity for children to build confidence, develop friendships, learn how to manage challenges, and grow both on and off the field.

That’s why the YMCA created Beyond the Game, a mental wellness initiative designed to give the caring adults in a child’s life practical tools to support their emotional well-being. Through expert-informed videos, Beyond the Game covers topics like emotional regulation, anxiety management, and behavioral development, with strategies parents, coaches, and YMCA staff can use in everyday situations.

As a YMCA basketball coach, Ashley watched her children and their teammates build confidence, friendships and teamwork on the court. And as a parent, she experienced another side of supporting young athletes when two of her children received specialized care at Scottish Rite for Children.

“Scottish Rite is considering the whole athlete, which is a big deal for the parent,” Ashley shared.

Today, her children continue participating in the sports they love, and Ashley sees firsthand how positive coaching, strong communities and quality care can make a difference in a young athlete’s journey.
