Happy Warm Weather, swimmers!

Lesson schedules for the summer will be determined by mid-May and fall will be out by the end of July.

If summer lessons are available, they will begin the first week of July and last six weeks.

Fall lessons will begin the first week of school in FISD and last six weeks as well.

Stay tuned and swim safe until then.

Hello Swimmers! I am so excited to be opening back up this season! I will be posting availability by the end of the day, and following up with any texts or e-mails you have sent my way!

The joy I have always found in this business has always been being able to serve you and your children in your environment. During these times, this is all the more important! For that reason, I am putting the following precautions in place:

1. I will not be doing more than one lesson a weekday evening, to give time to clean equipment.

2. Saturday and Sunday lessons will be two hours apart, meaning if a lesson ends at 12pm, I will not be teaching another lesson until 2pm. This gives me time to change suits, clean materials, and be refreshed for your little fish!

3. I will not be providing goggles this summer. I know they often get misplaced, and I love being able to carry spares for those sensitive eyes, but it is not a luxury I will be providing this swim season.

Prices have stayed the same, but I am willing to work with you! I understand, and I want to help as much as I can during this time.

Learning to Swim Age-by-Age 06/06/2019

“...It’s important to understand that swim classes for babies and toddlers aren’t designed to teach little ones how to swim on their own. They’re meant for kids and parents to be able to have fun together, safely, in the water.”

I love teaching littles! I have had more than one parent ask me “what does that game teach them?” And a lot of the time, especially for young toddlers, the answer is simple: nothing. It doesn’t teach your child anything except how to have fun in that water. That the pool is a safe place where we do fun activities. That paying attention to what we are doing in the water is important.

Your 18 month old most likely won’t be swimming by independently by August. But he sure will be begging to get back in the water.

It's Never Too Early For Kids To Begin Taking Water Safety Classes 06/05/2019

The question I get the most when interviewing with clients is “how long will it take?”

To me, and to most water safety professionals, it’s a lifelong skill that must continue to be practiced, especially at such a young age. While your child is 1-5 how much is he learning? And how much of that is she retaining? Swim lessons must be consistent and continuous to be effective.

This is why I equip you AND your child! The lesson doesn’t stop when I go home, it ends when the floaties get put back on and no attention is paid to actual swimming. We all want to have relaxed days in the pool where you aren’t having to worry about your kid. But ten minutes of that time without floaties could make a big difference.

It's Never Too Early For Kids To Begin Taking Water Safety Classes A study by Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine shows formal swim lessons are associated with an 88% reduction in the risk of drowning, in kids one to four years old.

Welcome to Learn to SPLASH! with Miss Halie. I am a 21 year old swim instructor from the North Dallas suburbs. I’ve loved water my whole life, learning to swim at age two. I have worked at several aquatic centers across the country as a lifeguard and swim instructor since 2011. This is my second year teaching private swim lessons and I am so excited for this summer!

I have some of the best clients in DFW. I love to work with you to create a cohesive plan for getting your child in the water, keeping them safe, and making them skilled. I love a strong swimmer, but what I love more is a safe swimmer! It is more important to me that your child know how to correctly get in and out of the pool, how to get to safety, and how to change “panic mode” to “I’ve got this mode.”

I specialize in young swimmers and beginning to intermediate levels. Bring me your infants, your toddlers, your young children yearning to swim free! We’ll ditch the puddle jumpers in no time.
