Never ever spoil your bird dog with fresh pheasant. I always have and my dogs perform at a higher level. Sure wish my dogs were like the others who couldn’t find a chicken in a hen house. 😂😂

The dream team went 4 for 7 today. These dogs are just on a different level I’m so proud and grateful to have them. Thank you lord.

Just got back from from archery elk hunt . I had an awesome time. Called a big bull into 60 yards but he just didn’t want to get closer . I hunt traditional so 35 yards is my max . The whole encounter lasted 3 hours. I called him in from over 400 yards we played cat and mouse in this big draw. At one point I circled behind him because of a wind shift and confused him so bad he looked frustrated. I know I was feeling the adrenaline dump . That the beauty of archery hunting Its very personal. So tag soup for elk for me . Hope everyone got a monster. Get out there and be wild.

Almost exactly a month to the day and this buck has his velvet off . He’s a nice blacktail but still has more potential. I passed him last year and will pass him this year. There’s a bigger buck he just hasn’t shown up yet.

The night before our first bird hunt of the year and the dogs are jact . The dream team is on full alert and ready to strike get out there and be wild.

Finally after 5 years got my bear skull back. Let this be a lesson when choosing the right people for taxidermy. Now I’m on the hunt for the rug . The company I was dealing with were a bunch of crooks. Then the crooks sold the business to a good man who gave me back my skull but didn’t have the hide. Now I have to go back to the crooks to see if they will give me my hide . Verify your taxidermist make sure they have a good reputation and more importantly make sure they have a license to practice taxidermy. Lesson learned.

This is a buck I passed on last year. He’s gotten much bigger. Big blacktails are special there’s not another deer like them . In this area there is one that is bigger and that’s the buck I’m after. Scouting and the use of trail cameras is everything if you want to have consistent success

Thirty yards in the backyard. Bow season is a month out and I’m there . If you’re headed east lots of fires right now especially in mt Emily. I’m really hoping this is the year I finally get it done.

Had a great morning on the sandy big Mike and I both hooked three and landed one. All native chinooks that were in excellent shape. We didn’t see any steelhead as you can see by the numbers it hasn’t been a great year. It was really nice to get out of the boat and just be a river rat .
