Last night, we presented the HYBL Coach of the Year Award in memory of Andy Anderson — a coach who truly embodied leadership, integrity, sportsmanship, and heart. The world recently lost Andy, but his memory lives on. We were joined by his wife, Stephanie, who presented the award to this year's recipient on behalf of Andy and his kids, Tyler, Tinsley, Taylor, and Trae.

Andy’s greatest love was his children. He never missed a single moment to be involved in his kids’ competitive sports and was a longtime coach in HYBL.

Andy understood that coaching youth basketball is about more than teaching plays and fundamentals. It’s about setting the tone. As a coach, Andy was a role model for the kids and for the parents, and Andy embodied our sportsmanship and culture to a "T". He treated referees with respect, coached his players with patience, and carried himself with class in both victory and defeat. He showed our athletes how to compete hard while honoring the game, their opponents, and the officials. That example shaped not just better players, but better young people.

It is especially meaningful that we were honored to present the very first Andy Anderson Coach of the Year Award to someone who reflects those same values.

Congratulations to Coach Jason Parks, coach of the Boys 10th-12th Grade Bucks. Your leadership, sportsmanship, and dedication continue the legacy Andy built, and we are grateful for the impact you have on our players and our league. Your dedication goes far beyond wins and losses — it’s about mentorship, character, and commitment to the players.

Please join us in congratulating Coach Jason Parks — a truly deserving recipient of the Andy Anderson Coach of the Year Award.
