We were honored to welcome members of the New Kent Sheriff’s Office out to Mended Sparrow for a recent site visit and program demonstration.
It was a privilege to share more about our mission, introduce the horses, and provide a firsthand look at how experiential, horse-human connection can support those who serve.
We appreciate the time they took to visit and are looking forward to continuing the conversation and building future opportunities together.
Thank you again to the New Kent Sheriff’s Office for coming out to the farm.

Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Memorial Day is more than a long weekend—it is a day of remembrance for those who made the ultimate sacrifice defending the freedoms we live with every day.
Originally known as Decoration Day after the Civil War, Memorial Day became a national day of honor for fallen service members across all branches and conflicts. From the battlefields of World War I and World War II to Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, and beyond—we remember those who never made it home.
Today, we remember.
We honor.
And we do not forget.🇺🇸

Leo showed up to the Hanover Chamber of Commerce 5K Airpark Race a little late this year… but don’t worry—he’s already planning his comeback. 🐎💨
Next time, he’ll be at the starting line and ready to take on all the mascots in the 50-yard dash.
In all seriousness, Leo was an absolute rockstar. With all the movement, energy, and kids around, he stayed steady, present, and handled everything like the good boy he is. That’s the kind of presence we’re proud of.
We’re grateful to be part of such a great community event—and we’ll be back.
Next year… Leo races. 🏁
