…And that we did! We wrapped up our final night of classes at our 7223 Stonewall Pkwy home. Taking alllll the good, leaving the bad. From humble beginnings in 1998 to 2026. We are so excited for our new home at 7134 Mechanicsville Turnpike, but oh how we will miss this place! 💕

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT 🎓❤️
Our final senior this season is Gwen. 💕 Not only is she a fearless and beautiful dancer, but a wonderful assistant to our Creative Movement dancers! We asked Gwen some questions:

What has been your favorite thing about dancing at SODA?
The people, SODA wouldn’t be what it is without the community. the teachers and the girls that are there make it so much fun. it’s a very loving community and that’s my favorite part about it. I have gotten so close with all the girls and teacher and i am forever thankful for that.

What is your favorite dance you’ve ever performed?
thunderstruck- it was so much fun, with a lot of energy throughout the dance it was always a good time doing it and it was fun to do such an iconic piece. also, workin’ day and night!

What is your favorite dance style and why?
contemporary- you can express yourself without any limits and you can add anything you want to the piece. i also i love how the choreography could look different because of how each dancer dances different and each way is all correct because there isn’t a “right” way.

What will you miss most about being a SODA dancer?
i will miss the girls and the teachers the most, they have become my second family and i am so sad to have to move on, they have made my time at SODA really special and i will forever be grateful. I love yall

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT🎓❤️
Y’all, I can’t believe how many wonderful seniors we have this year!🥲 Claire has been an amazing SODA dancer and Perform Co. member for many years. She has always been so kind, helpful, and also bakes the most amazing baked goods! We asked Claire some questions:

What has been your favorite thing about dancing at SODA?
How safe and comfortable I feel when I express myself through dance.

What is your favorite dance you’ve ever performed?
Either Walk Like an Egyptian or Horse With No Name!

What is your favorite dance style and why?
Modern, because of the freedom of movement.

What will you miss most about being a SODA dancer?
The dance family❤️

Advice for current and future SODA dancers?
Don’t be afraid to be uncomfortable when trying something new, that is what’s going to lead to growth!

We love you, Claire! We can’t wait to see what’s in store for you!

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT! 🎓❤️
It’s recital week, which means it’s the last week at SODA for our seniors. It never gets easier to see our dancers graduate! 😭 Alaina has been with us for many years and has grown into a beautiful dancer and person! We asked Alaina some questions:

What has been your favorite thing about dancing at SODA?
My favorite thing about dancing at SODA is always the sense of comfort as you’re walking in. It’s always been welcoming and understanding in every class I walked into.

What is your favorite dance you’ve ever performed?
The dance that I’ll never forget performing is The Teen Beach Movie dance with the beach balls. Whenever I’m in dance class that performance always comes back to me. I remember working so hard on it in class to get the choreography right and performing it on stage as well.

What is your favorite dance style and why?
My favorite dance style is tap or jazz because I’m able to bring out my personality and really perform with both facials and choreography. Both types have always been so rewarding when performing on stage.

What will you miss most about being a SODA dancer?
They’re so many things to miss about dancing at SODA but I will miss the sense of family the most. All of us girls have grown up dancing with each other and I’ll miss the catching up after each weekend and having each others back in every situation.

Advice for current and future SODA dancers?
Walk into every dance class with confidence knowing that you will try your best and work towards that skill you’re trying to get as long as it takes because the rewarding feeling of accomplishment will never fail.

We love you, Alaina! Go be amazing!
