Dwarf Car Nationals Day 2: Southern Oregon Speedway

What a beautiful night for some racing! We had light sprinkles, rainbows in the sky, and a lightning-fast racetrack. Because of our 6th-place finish on Friday, we got to sit out the early stuff and roll out later in the program for fast dash hot laps. Times didn't get posted for that session, but the car felt fast and we were hooked up running right near the top of the track.

That led right into the pole shuffle/fast dash where I pulled the 7 pill. We held our ground against a strong field to finish 7th, running a 15.752 for our best lap. Afterward, we knew we needed to make a few quick adjustments to the setup to make the car a bit more versatile for the main event.

Lined up 7th for the Main and fired off a little slow. I tried a completely different lane than the rest of the pack, hoping I could out-pace them on the alternative line. Instead, I lost a few spots early. I quickly made the choice to jump back up to the preferred line and started swimming my way back forward! The car was absolutely flying, and I honestly wish we had a few more laps. We charged all the way up to a 3rd-place podium finish!

To make it even better, we had a full SODCA podium sweep for the Pro Class! SODCA put on an awesome banquet dinner with awards after the races, and the trophies this year were actually custom canoe paddles—definitely one of the coolest trophies yet! Dwarf Car Nationals Day 1: Southern Oregon Speedway

Got to dust off the dwarf car and put it to use for the very first time this season! The classes are broken up into three categories (Pro, Veteran, and Sportsman), which is awesome because it gives everyone from rookies to seasoned pros a fair shot at running up front in their own groups.

Hot Laps: 17.061

With that time we placed us 15th out of 24 cars overall.

Because dwarf cars handle lineups a little differently, our pill draw actually lined us up for our heat race instead of hot laps. That put us dead last on the grid for Heat 2, but we picked up some spots and managed a solid 5th-place finish!

Heat Best Lap: 16.173

For the main event, we lined up 14th. The track gave us plenty of options with lines both high and low; I started off working the middle before migrating right up to the top at the end. Made some great passes and threw a few slide jobs to charge all the way up to a 6th-place finish!

That 6th-place run is huge because it locks us directly into at least a top-10 starting spot for Saturday night's big feature. We'll find out exactly where we line up after the fast dash tomorrow night!

Dirt Cup Day 3: Skagit Speedway

What a wild, fast weekend! Tonight was all about taking everything we’ve learned over the last few days and putting it to use on a track that kept us on our toes.

Hot Laps: 12.492

We got lined up at the back for Heat 2 and struggled to find a way forward through the heavy traffic, ultimately finishing 9th. That heat finish placed us on the front row of the C-Main, rolling off from the 2nd position.

We held down that 2nd-place transfer spot beautifully for about half the race and felt really good. Unfortunately, a yellow flag came out and completely broke our momentum. On the restart, we slipped back to 6th, just missing out on the transfer.

All in all, it was a fantastic weekend of learning, turning laps, and getting to share the track with some incredibly talented and competitive racers. Thank you so much to Skagit Speedway for the warm welcome and awesome racing!

Dirt Cup Day 2: Skagit Speedway

Today was all about taking everything we learned from Day 1 and putting it to good use! The team spent the morning and afternoon working on the car, getting it prepped and completely dialed in for the night ahead.

We started off the night with another great pill draw, pulling a 17! That put us in Qualifying Group A, rolling out 6th. The whole team was absolutely pumped with how our qualifying run felt and timed out:

Hot Laps: 12.559
Qualifying: 11.685

As I was driving around turn 3 under yellow after the checkers, the engine made a weird noise and completely lost power—even with it floored. We rolled into the pits and immediately started looking into the motor to see what went wrong. Turns out, we didn't have a failure at all; we just had the absolute perfect amount of fuel for our laps on the track and not a drop more! Talk about keeping it light and fast.

That qualifying time lined us up 3rd for Heat 3A. We maintained that spot and ran strong for the majority of the race, but a yellow-flag restart broke our rhythm and we slipped back a bit, finishing 5th.

When it came time for the mains, the points locked us straight into the B-Main, where we rolled off 12th. We had awesome momentum for the first third of the race and were making moves, but got caught up in some traffic that broke our momentum, and we started sliding backward. We ended the night 20th after trying a few different lines, but just couldn't regain that lost speed.

Even with the tough finish, the speed is definitely there and we are making great strides every time we hit the track. It's all about figuring this place out piece by piece, and I'm really happy with the progress we're making and how much we're learning as a team.

Dirt Cup Day 1: Skagit Speedway

We started the day off right with a team pancake breakfast before rolling into the pits. The crew got busy dialing in the setup for the night—checking tire pressures, mounting up some fresh rubber, and getting the fuel system primed and ready to rock.

When it came time for the pill draw, luck was on our side! We pulled a 10, which placed us in Group A for hot laps and qualifying. We rolled out 5th and found more speed with every single lap.

Hot Laps: 12.466
Qualifying: 11.991

That solid qualifying effort put us just one agonizing spot short of the invert and starting on the pole for the heats! Instead, we lined up on the inside of row 4 (7th) for Heat 1A. We held our ground beautifully for 7 of the 10 laps, but a couple of split-second lapses in judgment cost us a few spots, and we crossed the line 9th.

That heat finish sent us to the C-Main, rolling off from the inside of the second row in 3rd. We were super hopeful to grab a transfer spot, but I struggled with nailing my entry timing into the corners, ultimately finishing the race in 8th.

It wasn't the exact ending we wanted, but we gathered some great knowledge and we'll be right back at it tomorrow to learn, adapt, and move forward!

NARC 410 Speedweek Day 2: Roseburg

Talk about a night of learning! We kicked things off with another frustrating fuel issue during mud packing, but the crew got it dialed in quickly so we could get back out there.

* Hot Laps: 13.323
* Qualifying: 13.112

Lined up at the back for Heat 1 and struggled a bit with the engine not turning enough RPMs. That sent us to the B-Main, where the real work started. Lining up 7th, we managed to slice our way up to 4th—locking in a transfer spot to the A-Main!

Starting 22nd in the A-Main, we fought our way up to a 16th-place finish. Our best lap came early on lap 7 with a 15.189. Had a brief scare during a yellow flag where I thought I had a flat, so I pulled off to be safe. The team checked it out, gave me the all-clear, and I rolled back out to finish the night strong.

Ready for night #2 at the Douglas County Speedway. Fought some fueling issues on the first night at Medford. Missed hot laps and qualifying but got it figure out just before the heat race. Car was solid and motor ran well the rest of the night was able to make it into the main through the last transfer spot in the B. Started last and moved up 13th. Power steering started to leak and pulled it in with 5 to go. Thanks to my crew for working hard and getting the car going. Thank you to my sponsors that get us up and down the road. Day 2 at the Marvin Smith Memorial

Thankfully, our 4th-place finish from Saturday night already had us locked into the top four for qualifying, so we got to skip that session entirely.

But still had the opportunity to run hot laps where we got 8th quickest with a 12.645.

In the heat race, we rolled off 3rd and brought it home in 2nd. From there, we used our Saturday night lock-in to join the dash. After drawing a 3, we maintained our ground and finished 3rd.

For the A-Main, we rolled out to the track to Jason Aldean’s "Dirt Road Anthem," starting on the inside of row two. Unfortunately, we battled some motor struggles during the feature—the engine wouldn't pull past 8,000 RPM, and the car just wasn't working on the cushion due to the lack of power from the motor. I committed to the bottom lane for most of the race and managed to salvage an 8th-place finish in the 41-lap main event.

Day 1 of the Marvin Smith Memorial at Cottage Grove Speedway is in the books.

We kicked the day off with some standard motor maintenance—washing the car and checking the valves to make sure everything was ready to rock.

Hot Laps: Rolled out 14th and laid down an 11.942, putting us 3rd quick.
Qualifying: Kept the momentum going, shaving another tenth off our time with an 11.894. That placed us 7th overall.
Heat Race: Started 2nd in Heat 1 and took the WIN, which locked us into the Dash!
The Dash: Drew the #2 spot and held onto 2nd, securing a front-row starting spot for the feature.
A-Main: Started 2nd and brought it home with a solid 4th-place finish. The track was technical, especially with a tricky spot in Turn 3, but this 4th-place run is huge because it locks us into the 4th qualifying spot for Night 2!
