AI can review your resume in seconds.

LinkedIn is filled with career tips.

Recruiters, coaches, creators, newsletters, and podcasts are constantly telling us what we should do next.

So why do so many professionals still feel uncertain about their careers?

Because the challenge isn't finding information.

It's knowing what deserves your trust.

That's the conversation Fran Arvan and I are kicking off in the first episode of **Beyond the Algorithm**, our new LinkedIn Live thought leadership series exploring the intersection of career strategy, artificial intelligence, and the future of work.

Episode 1: Finding Career Advice You Can Trust

We'll explore questions like:

• How do you evaluate career advice in an an AI-driven world?

• When should AI inform your decisions—and when shouldn't it?

• How do you distinguish thoughtful guidance from generic advice?

• What role should human judgment play in navigating today's career landscape?

Our goal isn't to tell you what to think.

It's to help you think more strategically about your career in a world where information is abundant, but clarity is increasingly difficult to find.

📅 **Wednesday, September 16**
🕛 **12:00 PM ET**

If these are questions you've been wrestling with, we'd love to have you join us.

Career development isn't always about moving up.

Sometimes it's about stepping back and asking:

What do I want work to provide in this season of my life?

Growth?

Intellectual challenge?

Flexibility?

Meaningful contribution?

More space for life outside of work?

Or some combination that doesn't fit neatly into a traditional career path?

We spend a lot of time asking, “What's next?”

The next job.
The next promotion.
The next move.

But career clarity sometimes requires a different question:

“What do I want my relationship with work to look like now?”

Because once that answer changes, the strategy may need to change with it.

When a job becomes stressful or unpredictable, the urgency to get out can become very real.

I need out.

And that feeling deserves to be taken seriously.

But there's a difference between honoring urgency and letting urgency make the decision.

When getting out becomes the goal, almost any opportunity that offers an exit can start to look like progress.

A different company. A different manager. A different role. A different industry.

But different doesn't necessarily mean better. And it certainly doesn't mean better for you.

Urgency can tell us something important: something needs to change.

What it can't tell us on its own is what needs to change, what we want instead, or where we should go next.

That's where clarity still matters.

The goal isn't to ignore the reality of a difficult situation. It's to make sure urgency gives us **information without giving it all of the authority.

Because getting out and moving forward aren't always the same thing.

“I need a new job.”

Sometimes, that's exactly what needs to happen.

But when I hear this in my coaching, I don't immediately jump to resumes, applications, or identifying the next role.

First, I want to understand:

What are you actually trying to change?

Is it the work itself? The manager? The culture? The scope of the role? A lack of growth?

Or has the situation become difficult enough that getting out feels like the most important thing?

Those are different career problems, and they don't necessarily lead to the same solution.

This is why I believe so strongly in clarity before tactics.

You can execute a job search really well and still find yourself recreating much of what you were trying to leave.

Before asking, “What jobs should I pursue?” it may be worth asking:

What am I actually trying to change?”

The answer can change the entire direction of your search.

Today the work clicked. 💼

I walked out of a coaching session feeling completely aligned with how I want to show up.

No rushing.

No forcing decisions.

No over-engineering next steps.

Just clarity first. Partnership always. Pacing that honors the human.

New month, new newsletter. 📬

This month's theme: Breaking the career Groundhog Day loop.

You know the feeling - same patterns, same frustrations, same internal debate about whether to stay or go. The sense that something needs to change, but you're not sure what.

Here's what I've learned: The cycle doesn't break by moving faster or making a big decision. It breaks when you get clear about what's actually keeping you stuck.

In this month's edition, I share the Four Diagnostic Questions I work through with clients at career inflection points:

1. The Capability Question: Am I stuck because I lack skills, or because my value isn't visible?
2. The Environment Question: Is this organization capable of giving me what I need next?
3. The Timing Question: Am I strategically ready to move, or just emotionally ready to leave?
4. The Positioning Question: Can people articulate what I'm uniquely good at?

These questions aren't meant to be answered quickly or alone. They're the beginning of a conversation about what's actually holding you back - and how to break the pattern.

If you're navigating a career inflection point, this newsletter is for you.

2026 is here. Let's make it count. 🔥

New year, new opportunities—but here's the truth: clarity beats chaos every single time.

This year isn't about reinventing yourself. It's about getting clear on where you're going and building a strategy to get there.

For the executives, mid-career professionals, and leaders navigating what's next: this is your year to ditch the doubt and own your next chapter.

✨ Clarity → Confidence → Strategic moves → The right opportunities.

That's the framework. That's the partnership.

Ready to make 2026 your breakthrough year? Let's go. 💼

During a recent consultation, a prospective client asked me:

"How do I know what to look for in a career coach?"

Such a smart question, because the truth is, career support can look very different depending on who you're working with.

A few things I'd encourage anyone to look for:

✨ A coach who can clearly explain their approach (not just promise results). You should understand how they'll help you get from where you are to where you want to be—step by step.

✨ Someone who starts with clarity, not your resume.** Before we fix anything on paper, we need to figure out what you actually want. That's where the real work happens.

✨ Support that's actually defined (not vague). What happens between sessions? How quickly will you get feedback? How do you reach them if you're stuck? These should have clear answers.

✨ A fit where you feel comfortable being real —because that's where progress happens. You should leave conversations feeling clearer, not more anxious.

✨ Tools you can use on your own. Good coaching gives you frameworks you can apply long after you stop working together.

If you're navigating a career crossroads and want support that's human-to-human and focused on what YOU actually want (not just what's out there), message me the word CLARITY and I'll send you my scheduling link.
