Vendor applications for the 2027 Art of the Cowgirl open this Saturday, August 15.

We look forward to gathering in Wickenburg, Arizona, February 23–27, 2027, and welcoming another remarkable collection of Western makers and businesses.

𝐅𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐎𝐖𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐏 𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄 | 𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥𝐚 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐬

For Paula Francis, success is no longer measured only by where she places. It is found in becoming the rider her horse needs each day.

From Bakersfield, California, Paula completed the Horsemanship Fellowship in 2020 under Master Horsewoman Sandy Collier.

One principle from that year still guides her:

“𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲.”

Be courageous. Focus on learning, not winning.

Since her fellowship, Paula has built an impressive record in the arena. She ended her final season with Roosters Zack by winning a year-end award and a Non Pro Boxing Shoot-Out before his well-earned retirement.

With Cat R Oleana, she won the 2022 NRCCHA Non Pro Boxing Derby Championship and earned Reserve Champion at the 2023 CRCHA Non Pro Boxing Derby.

Then, in 2024, Paula fulfilled a dream she had carried for 38 years. Riding Rey More Shine, she entered three Snaffle Bit Futurities, placing third at the NSHA, earning Reserve Champion at the CRCHA, and winning the Reno Snaffle Bit Futurity Non Pro Boxing Championship.

Today, Paula continues competing, learning, and stepping beyond what is comfortable. She works full time, helps her husband with their commercial beef herd, breeds mares, raises Dachshunds, and treasures her newest role as “Grammy” to Willie Elizabeth.

She hopes to bring her mare into the bridle, continue mentoring young riders, and one day teach Willie to ride.

Paula says the Fellowship changed the trajectory of her growth as a horsewoman and taught her to hold life’s gifts with an open hand.

“There truly is always something to be thankful for, and I never want to forget that.”

The Art of the Cowgirl logo captures a cowgirl in motion; fearless, focused, and fully committed to the ride.

The powerful horse represents the challenges that test the animals and us at the heart of the Western way of life. The cowgirl embodies courage, determination, balance, and trust. Her outstretched arm reflects confidence and freedom, while the circle symbolizes a worldwide community connected by shared values, traditions, and love for the West.

It reminds us that being a cowgirl is not defined by one discipline, background, or place. Cowgirls are horsewomen, artists, makers, competitors, ranchers, entrepreneurs, storytellers, and keepers of tradition, each carrying the legacy of the West forward in her own way.

Create a one-of-a-kind heirloom piece to be presented as an award during the 2027 Art of the Cowgirl event—honoring excellence while carrying Western craftsmanship into the future.

These contests celebrate the imagination, skill, heritage, and many talents of cowgirls everywhere. Western tradition stays alive when new hands, voices, and visions become part of its story.

We cannot wait to see Art of the Cowgirl through your eyes and your art.

Although we remain an Invitational Sale, in 2027 we are going to open the sale to 10 additional consignments. We hope this allows those who have reached out over the years to be included in the lineup.

These 10 spots are open now and will close August 20th, so make sure to get those horses in. Professional photos and videos and consignment fees are NOT required, but if you receive an invite through this application, they will be required at that time.
