Strength - Balance - Flexibility: the Holy Trinity of training. Midtown Krav Maga lunges incorporate all 3 in one drill. Use only your front leg to pull you up for strength in your glutes, quads, and ankles. Hold the kick defense for a 3 count for balance. Big lunge steps to stretch the hip flexors, glutes, hamstrings, and quads. Keep your core pedestal posture tight throughout the motion and don't let your knee go past your shoelaces on your step. Keep your feet shoulder width wide at all times (don't tightrope). Add dumbbells and ankle weights for progression.

HOLY MOLY SUNSHINE! By order of the Mayor, get out and exercise! Shelby Farms, Overton Park, Tom Lee Park, anywhere you can find an open space. Increase your sight distance past your 4 walls. Move around in a large space. It's proven to be even more beneficial to work out in times of stress, so during this period of strict social distancing we can maintain some contact with others by utilizing outdoor recreation areas to exercise. The science behind exercise to relieve stress is complex, but here's the idea: "Too tired to worry." Your thinking will become clearer, you'll feel more resolve, and you'll sleep better which helps everything.

MIDTOWN KRAV MAGA SCHEDULE ALERT: We're suspending classes for this week to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. This is a difficult decision, but personal health and safety of MKM participants and their loved ones is our primary mission at MKM and I'm erring on the side of caution. For now, we'll go on a week by week basis to address the rapidly changing circumstances. Feedback and questions are welcomed. Stay safe, follow CDC guidelines, and hopefully soon we'll be back to training harder to live longer!
