The Mentor community is mourning the unexpected death of a head wrestling coach for the high school.

Our Mentor community, especially our wrestling one has been devastated once again. Yesterday Coach Starkey, the head coach at Memorial Middle School in Mentor, passed away unexpectedly.

Coach Starkey, you have shown so many kids what it’s like to have a coach in their corner, from younger years into adulthood. You’ve been someone that has supported, encouraged, been a role model to, shared humor with, and given insight to so many people. Words cannot express what we are all feeling. You’ll be missed beyond belief.

Please keep the Starkey family in your thoughts and prayers.

Mentor community it’s time to gather together again to show our support for this wonderful family.

This past weekend Corbin Bissett placed 2nd in Greco at the USA Wrestling Central Regionals in Kentucky!

With the 2nd place finish, he earned his ticket to Fargo in July!!!
