Let’s drop some strokes this summer with our putting tip series. An easy quick drill to warm up with before teeing off is to throw down a couple tees 15 or 20 feet apart on a slope on the practice screen.

One of the most important things you can do is nail down the speed of the greens for the day. 20 feet is not a range where we expect to make a lot of putts, but it is a great distance for developing feel for middle range speed that you can translate into shorter or longer putts on the course.

It’s also a great opportunity to use your Putter Key for kinesthetic feel, using the shapes to make a proper backstroke and confirm you are centering the ball.

Hit some putts, both downhill and uphill, trying to keep the ball within 2 feet of the hole. Using the slope, you will dial-in a good speed for the day, helping to eliminate the dreaded three putts.
