CrossFit Strong Island CrossFit Strong Island is a CrossFit Affiliate located in Merrick, Nassau County, New York. What is CrossFit?

We boast an impressive 5500 sq-ft facility that includes a 2400 sq-ft indoor turf. We are a short 2minute walk from the train station and have access to ample parking for our members. CrossFit is a “back to basics” type of training. We employ functional movements to facilitate our members to meet and exceed their fitness goals in a short time period. Our program is constantly varied providing a new challenge each day. CrossFit is a combination of metabolic conditioning (running, rowing, jump roping), gymnastics (any bodyweight exercise), and weight training (power-lifting, Olympic lifting, kettlebell techniques), with a time or task oriented domain. We believe there are ten components of fitness;
Strength
Cardiovascular Endurance
Balance
Agility
Power
Accuracy
Coordination
Speed
Stamina
Flexibility
At CrossFit Strong Island we work towards our members becoming proficient in all ten of these components. CrossFit Strong Island is not your regular “run of the mill” gym; it’s a community and a way of life. Our training is instructor-based, whether through group classes, team training or one-on-one. The environment is supportive and encouraging, without compromising its competitive edge. Our goal is to educate, encourage and motivate members to meet their highest fitness potential.

🚨OCTOBER ’26 ATHLETE OF THE MONTH 🚨
Jimbo Jones

Join us in congratulating Jimmy Wolfrom, our October Athlete of the Month! 👏🏻

Jimmy is less than a year into his CrossFit journey, and the strides he’s made in just 10 months have been tremendous!

What stands out most about Jimmy isn’t just his progress, but his attitude and approach to training. He’s a true student of the sport, always looking for ways to improve, asking questions, and applying feedback from his coaches. He’s also incredibly supportive of his fellow members, always encouraging those around him.

When asked what he enjoys most about Strong Island, Jimmy pointed to our culture and community. What initially felt overwhelming as someone new to CrossFit quickly became something he looks forward to, thanks to the support of his coaches and fellow athletes.

A few things about Jimmy:

Favorite Movements: Deadlifts & Back Squats

Movement He’s Working Toward: Bar Muscle-Ups

Goals for 2026: Continue building strength, improving endurance, and showing up!

One thing Jimmy said that really stood out was:

“I am confident that as long as I continue showing up, CFSI will get me where I need to be.”

And that’s exactly the mindset we love to see!

Jimmy is a great example of what consistency, coachability, and a willingness to step outside your comfort zone can accomplish. He’s embraced the process, trusted his coaches, and become a tremendous part of our community in a relatively short period of time.

Congratulations Jimmy! We’re proud of the progress you’ve made and even more excited to see what’s ahead!

🇺🇸 SEPTEMBER COMMITTED CLUB 🇺🇸

23 athletes. 20+ classes. Another month of showing up and putting in the work.

Congratulations to everyone who earned their spot in our September Committed Club, with Rob Perper leading the way with 27 classes!

This month’s graphic carries a little more meaning.

As a New York community, September will always be a time to pause, remember, and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001 — as well as the first responders who ran toward danger and the families who continue to carry their memory.

We’re grateful for the community we have inside our walls and we never take for granted the opportunity to come together each day.

Congratulations to our September crew. Keep showing up. Keep putting in the work. Keep making each other better.
