Results of trapshooting Saturday July 25, 2026:
Saturday was again a near perfect day to do some trapshooting. We hosted 28 shooters, who shot 95 rounds, or 2,375 targets thrown. I was apprehensive having Chili for lunch in July, but it sold out.

We had numerous 25 straights in the 16’s – Henry Culver (1), Jim Robinson (2), Guy Finney (1), Tim Richards (1), and Rich Haltek (2). What made the day memorable was that Jim Robinson and his grandson, Henry Culver, both got their 25’s while on the same squad. It was Henry’s first ever 25 straight.

We had some new converts in the Wobble: Bill Lynch, Bob Pearce & Marty. This Sunday is an ATA shoot. Attached is the current Presquad sheet. Still time to sign up for the Wobble League.

For those concerned, we did lose power during Monday’s storm, but only for about 3 hours. Traps are dry. Merrillville experienced winds of 115 mph.

Trapshooting for Saturday July 25th:
Looks like the weather will hold. Low to mid 70's, with a south wind at 5-7 mph. Not exactly cold, but since I had the fixings for chili for lunch, that's what lunch will be. Munster Donuts in the morning.

I know the deadline was July 25th for the Wobble League, but many of our shooters were at the State Shoot, and may not be here tomorrow to sign up. I will extend sign up another week. I expect we will flip to Wobble around noon.

Jim Gilbert plans to load targets in the morning, 9 am (Bill Mager is on extended vacation). I think the only house low on targets is
Center. So, if anyone is available to come in a bit early to help, that would be greatly appreciated.

Trapshooting this week:
Thought I would jump on this week since temps will be “cool”. Wednesday evening “they” say it will be upper 60’s. Big change from last Wednesday when it was in the 90’s.

Looking to Saturday, once again it looks to be a comfortable, and almost a cool day. Temps look to be low 70’s. Not quite ready for chili, but maybe. Or beans & franks for lunch.

Oh, there’s some leftover Rosati’s pizza from Saturday in the fridge if anyone wants some - FREE.

Trapshooting notes for Saturday July 18th:
First off, it will be HOT, starting the day around 90 (feel like will be 100), and climbing. There is a possibility of rain early afternoon. But who knows, the radar looks spotty. Some Munster Donuts in the morning. If we make to lunchtime, and if there is interest, I’ll order some pizza.

Saturday will the official start of the Wobble League. See me if you want to participate, $10 entry fee. We shot wobble Wednesday night, so Center is set on wobble, if there is any interest first thing. Otherwise I put it back on Singles. West will be operating on Singles. I don’t plan to open East unless someone comes to me wanting to shoot doubles. But I’ll play it by ear.

Wobble League Status - 1st scores last night:
This is the best start to our Wobble League in quite a while. Although the league officially starts July 18, we do allow early shooting. Well, the Del Real family took advantage. They came out for the wobble league specifically. I'm told none of them ever shot wobble.

It was a hot & muggy Wednesday night. I think we only had 11 shooters, but they shot at 1,000 targets. Shooters shot 16's, handicap, doubles & wobble. They shot right up to closing time.

Looking forward, Saturday will be a very hot day. Weather guy is calling for rain in the afternoon, but radar looks promising. If you were thinking of coming out, Saturday should be a light day. Quite a few of our shooters are at the Indiana State shoot. And if you've never shot Wobble, this might be a good day to try it. No pressure to shoot a perfect score, just some fun.

Saturday July 11, 2026 trapshooting comments:
First off wishing good shooting to our members going down to the Indiana State shoot in Fishers in the coming week. I think we will have a minimum of 10 club members participating. Make us proud.

I always fee grateful when members step up to help in our trap operations. This past Saturday we had only one trap personnel. We ran all three traps. We had 27 shooters. They shot 104 rounds, which is 2,600 targets. A special thanks to Jim Gilbert. We were low on targets in the houses. He recruited Chris & Aidan to load early afternoon, while we were still shooting. During the day we got help loading, scoring, and cleanup from Ted B, John H, Jay F, Jim G, and others that I can’t remember.

All in all, it was a good day that somehow went smoothly. Next Saturday many of our shooters will be at the State Shoot, so I expect the east trap will have light use. The plan is to flip it back to singles around noon, so we can start Wobble on the Center. That’s the official start of the Wobble League. See me to sign up, $10 entry fee.

Trapshooting notes for Saturday July 11, 2026:
Looks like the weather will give us a break. It looks to top out about 80°, mild NE wind, and about 28% cloud cover. Munster Donuts in the morning. A few weeks ago someone commented “not enough chocolate donuts”, so last week I got ALL chocolate. Then the comment last week was too many chocolate. I’ll split the difference. Lunch will be hamburgers I’ll make tonight, and warm them at the club for lunch.

I still have some ATA option money, see me if you’re on the list at the club. I also have some 16/22 league payouts & 12 pak of pop to give out, see me.

The Wobble league officially starts on July 18ttth. But I will start taking scores this Saturday July 11th. If there is any wobble interest, we do sometime after 12 pm, or thereabouts.

We will be short handed, just one trap personnel (Aidan). So I’ll be looking for some help scoring & loading.

Finally, I am open to anyone looking to volunteer to do some cleanup on the grounds, trapfields or elsewhere on the grounds. Things like cutting wood branches or tree limbs or clearing of debris. If there is something you would like to do, let me know, especially if you would do so during the week when we’re not here.

ATA Shoot of July 5, 2026 - Results:
All week long the forecast was looking bleak. But long range radar was promising, so we proceeded on the basis the shoot would go on.

16 Yard Event (29 entries):
Once again there was an attempt to collect the 100 Straight Bounty, but no cigar. Tom Jenkins came the close with a 99, followed by 98’s by Chris Geron, Tom Antczak & Tim Richards, with 97’s by Doug Combs & Ed Turk. There were more scores in the 90’s. All total, 17 shooters broke 90 or better. The bright star of the 16’s was Landon Petty. This Sub Jr started trap this past spring. After languishing in some low scores, he exploded with a 95, taking D class.

Handicap Event (27 entries):
The Handicap did have some excitement. Chris Geron & Tom Antczak had high scores of 95. Each got a half yard punch, just in time for the Indiana State Shoot. Tom had a middle 50 score of 48, but Chris came in with a 49, which earned him the middle 50 pot of $85. Then came a 94's by Tim Richards (again?) and Lew Turk. Pete Brissette came in with a 93, followed by 92’s by Bradley Dapshis & Tom Jenkins.

Doubles Event (21 entries):
I think the wind started to play some tricks when doubles started, as evidenced by the scores. Tim Richards was the only shooter to break the 90’s with his 91. Shooters always say trapshooting is a game of one target. There was a tie in C class with 86’s ($17 added money), by Tom Jenkins & Chris Stueck. We break ties by long run from scratch. Tom’s long run was 1, but Chris missed his first target. Go figure. By the way, I can't recall the last time we had 21 doubles entries.

Tim Richards was high in the HOA with 283, same score as last month. Tom Antczak came next with a 279. These two tangled with HOA our last shoot.

All the reports & scores have been uploaded to the ATA, and fees paid, including the ITA. I expect shooter scores will be posted to shooter accounts by the ATA in the next few days, in plenty of time for the Indiana State Shoot, next week.

Our next shoot will be Sunday August 2nd. By the way, if anyone would like a printout of their average card, please let me know next time you are at the club. We do have payout envelopes for several shooters, so see me at the counter next time you are at the club.
We threw 7,700 targets, and hosted 31 shooters. The Options and Added Money for this shoot totaled $757.50 in payouts.

Trapshooting Sat (7/4) & Sun (7/5):
It's been a wild past week or so. But we are ready to go this weekend. Funny thing is, just when we thought we were out of the woods, last night a tree fell over on the drive coming into the club. It blocked the roadway, no wire down & power is ok. Bill Mager worked tirelessly to clear the drive. But after a call for volunteers, we had Pete Brissette, Larry Lipa & Bradly come out to get things cleared. Without them, don't think we would be open this weekend.

Saturday weather looks to be about 80°, high humidity, chance of rain, and a light SW wind. Munster Donuts in the morning. Hot Dogs for lunch.

Sunday ATA looks to be upper 70's, high humidity, mild NW wind, and a possibility of rain. Oddly, radar looks good. Munster Donuts in the morning. Lunch will be Stracks Fried Chicken, with sides, and some Italian beef.

Its so strange that things are looking better at the club, and then part of our Sycamore tree at home comes crashing down this afternoon. The fireman scolded me for trying to cut that huge branch while it was dangling on the power wires. But they did apologize for being so harsh on me. But they said, "leave it to the professionals".

I have the guts of the next league, a wobble league. Just have to tweak it out. Starts July 18th, with early shooting starting July 11th.

Help!:
Good news is the Center & West traps are functioning just fine.

Bad news is that overnight we had another tree that fell over. No wires were damaged. But the tree is blocking the road coming in, just even with the north parking lot. Bill Mager is out there attempting to cut the tree, but needs HELP__ASAP. Unless the tree is removed, trapshootingg this weekend is doubtful.

Also, we could use some help to load targets TODAY, to beat any rain.

So, we need to call out as many volunteers as possible.
