South Shore Dance Alliance

The LOK Wishing Tree, and the South Shore Dance Alliance are proud to be collaborating with the DancExcel Champion Center for Creative Arts Education, and Top 20 Inc. in presenting the second annual two day Winter Dance Workshop on January 2nd & 3rd. The workshop, which will take place at the DancExcel studios located at 2345 Richard Hatcher Blvd. (formerly Grant St.) will feature classes in ballet, modern, jazz, Contemporary, and Hip-Hop (Urban Street Dance).
All of the instructors are currently dancing or have danced Professionally, and have received their training from some the most prestigious dance programs in in the United States, Including, Indiana University, Juilliard, the Alvin Ailey School, Ballet Chicago, and Deeply Rooted Dance Theater to name a few.
Founded by Dr. Dionne N. Champion and Charice Grant, the DancExcel Champion Center for Creative Education is dedicated to providing a variety of arts education opportunities for young dancers and artists from throughout Northwest Indiana.

We are pleased to announce that on Saturday, November 22, from 9:30 am until 4:00 pm, Top 20 Dance Inc., and the South Shore Dance Alliance will be hosting two workshops conducted by BABA Stafford Stafford C Berry Jr., Director of the Indiana University School of Contemporary Dance's African American Dance Company. The workshops will take place in the gym at the Carrie Gosch Early Learning Center, located at 4001 Indianapolis Blvd. in East Chicago, Indiana.
The workshops, the first of which will run from 9:30 to 11:30 am, and the second workshop will start at 1:30 pm and end at 3:30 pm, will feature elements of West African Dance with Live African Drumming, along with scholarship opportunities to attend the Annual Kukusanyna Dance Intensive at Indiana University's Bloomington Campus. Both workshops are free for high school students.
