We’re coming up on another session of lessons, and it’s ALWAYS important to remember that your child feeds off your reaction during lessons!

Here are some helpful things to say during your child’s session:

❌ I’m sorry, it’s only a few minutes and then we can go home.
✅ I’m so proud of you for working so hard today!

❌ I know you don’t want to get in. I’m sorry, but we have to.
✅ You’re going to learn so much today! I can’t wait to see it!

❌ You had a hard lesson today. That looked tiring!
✅ Wow! I can’t believe how well you swam! You’re a fish!

❌ Ok, today’s the day you swim in your clothes. It’s probably going to be scary, but just try anyway.
✅You’ve worked so hard! You’re going to have a great swim today, I can just feel it!

⭐️Remember, you’re giving your child a gift that could save their life—don’t be sorry!

Sometimes it’s hard to watch your child when their condor zone is expanding in the water. That’s ok!

If you’re having a tough time, ask your instructor where you can watch from out of site. You’re not the first person to ask, and they would be more than happy to help!

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐭? Toddlers and young children lack the upper body strength to tread water or lift their head to breathe for long periods of time. This method of swimming is exhausting for young children and can lead to hyperventilation and shallow water blackout.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐭 is a key 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹 taught in survival swim lessons, regardless of age, and can be taught to infants as young as 6 months old.

Once children are over 1 year old and walking, they also learn to swim with their face in the water in a swim-float-swim sequence for fun and safety.

Many swim programs claim to teach “water safety” without teaching any 𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓 skills whatsoever.
