I didn’t get kicked out of transition race day, in fact, I showed up with plenty of time to spare.
So, when transition closed 15 minutes earlier than scheduled (like it did yesterday) and other people were panicking and racing to get their gear finalized, I was able to go around and help them out. Met some great athletes who appreciated my assistance.
The women are off and going first, men are next!
The course is now set up, and all personal athlete equipment is in place. Now it’s time to get out of the transition area so the officials don’t toss me out!
Ending of video is the best.

Well, my chariot seems to have arrived safely in 100 pieces. Now… if I can just remember where all these strange looking screws go 🙏.
Any suggestions? 👆🤯
And… three hours later… the chariot is ready.
Now it’s up to the bike to decide, will it serve me like a stallion or buck me around and take me for a ride like a donkey for this race.

It looks like bike bag survived flight, hoping the bike inside did too. Without my chariot I’ll be left in the dust.
Landed in Vienna and rented a car to drive to final destination Samorin, Slovakia. I didn’t have time to spare, but I took a chance and took a detour to drive the opposite direction to go into downtown Vienna. I wish I had days, but was thankful for the 40 minutes I had to speed walk the historic pedestrian area and stop and enjoy the beauty of the city.

Off to Slovakia for the The World Championship of middle distance triathlon! As if the race itself isn’t enough of a challenge, I slipped getting into a “Lazy River” of all things and fractured my radius 3 weeks ago.
Doc gave me the clear to race “very” carefully. The swim portion of tri is going to quite interesting with this thing on my arm.
