💥 Stuck in a Rut? Let’s Break Through! 💥
I know what it feels like to be stuck. To feel like you’re spinning your wheels, making progress but still not feeling “there” yet.
Back in my early 20s, I was drinking a 2-liter of Dr. Pepper a day, eating fast food nonstop, and running on 2-3 hours of sleep while juggling culinary school and work. I told myself I was just “hustling,” but in reality, I was burning myself out.
At 5’6” and 250 lbs, I felt miserable, exhausted, and trapped in my own body. One morning, I woke up, felt my chin sticking to my chest, and something clicked. I had to make a change.
I cleaned up my nutrition, hit the gym 4-5 days a week, gave up soda, and in four months, I lost 70 lbs. But guess what? I still felt miserable.
I wasn’t proud of what I’d done. I wasn’t celebrating my progress. And that was the problem.
The number on the scale wasn’t the answer. The mindset was.
When I finally shifted my focus to confidence, consistency, and a sustainable lifestyle, everything changed. I found balance. I found strength. And now, I help others do the same.

In 2012, I embarked on a pivotal journey during my externship at The Broadmoor, one of America’s most prestigious resorts in Colorado Springs. Fresh out of culinary school, I was fueled by passion, energy, and big dreams. Like many, I envisioned quickly rising through the ranks, opening my own restaurant, and crafting a successful business. However, the universe had lessons in store that I didn't foresee.
During one particularly challenging day, I found myself overwhelmed and exhausted, battling a cold, missing family and friends, and trying to adjust to a new role and new environment. It was the perfect storm, and I was right in the thick of it. Tickets were pouring in relentlessly, and I struggled to keep up, feeling the pressure mount with each passing minute. For the first time in my life, I was reprimanded by a superior, questioning my choices and whether I was cut out for the industry.
In the aftermath of this humbling encounter, my chef shared wisdom that resonated deeply. He reminded me that while I was so focused on the big picture, I was overlooking the crucial importance of the little things. Those small, seemingly insignificant tasks and accomplishments are the building blocks of our dreams. They are the subtle brushstrokes that complete the masterpiece of our aspirations.
This lesson on valuing the small steps plays a significant role in my Fit Forever movement and is at the heart of what Greenlight Personal Training stands for. We believe in sustainable, life-changing fitness that's not about quick fixes but about lasting transformation through consistent, mindful actions.
As we stand on the cusp of a New Year—a time when many of us set lofty goals and resolutions—there's a vital lesson to remember. Did you know 92% of New Year's resolutions fail? Often, it’s because we focus too heavily on the end goal, forgetting to embrace the significance of incremental progress.
This year, let’s change that narrative. Let’s fall in love with the process and cherish each small victory. They keep us engaged, motivated, and resilient.

Adam was one of our very first clients at Greenlight Personal Training - Mesa. From day one, he walked into our studio determined to make a change, and I knew he was going to crush it! 💥
When we first discussed Adam’s goals, it became clear that it wasn’t just about the weight; it was about what that weight represented. He didn’t want to be the dad who couldn’t keep up with his boys at the park. From there, I learned who Adam truly strives to be.
He aims to be the father figure and husband his family can always count on, to feel great and energized in his work, and most importantly, to prioritize himself so he can give his best to his family and career. 🙌
Here’s the kicker... Adam travels a lot for work, works long hours, helps cook meals, and juggles everything that busy parents and professionals do. He didn’t have hours to spare in the gym!
