Did you know we offer a Twist Rate Stability Calculator on our website?
This useful tool helps you choose the right bullet for your rifle—or determine the correct twist rate if you’re planning a re-barrel.
Here’s how to use it:
Step 1: Select your desired bullet from the drop-down menu. This auto-fills the Bullet Parameters section on the left. (These can be manually adjusted if using a non-Berger bullet.)
Step 2: Fill in the Gun & Atmospheric Parameters. Accuracy matters here—factors like altitude and temperature can strongly affect the calculation.
Step 3: Click Calculate Stability and review the analysis below.
For maximum performance, your Gyroscopic Stability (SG) should be above 1.5, maximizing the bullet’s BC potential for best downrange performance.
• Marginal Stability (1.0–1.5): Likely good groups, but the bullet may behave as if it has a slightly lower BC.
• Unstable (below 1.0): Unpredictable flight—this bullet should not be used in that application.
Calculate your stability in just a few clicks by visiting https://bergerbullets.com/twist-rate-calculator/
