As they say, all good things must come to an end. Battle Mountain threw down this weekend at Jeffco stadium for the 4A state meet. All of the Battle Mountain athletes finished higher than their seeds and many of them set lifetime bests! The 4 x 800 led off the meet with four strong legs that accumulated a time that gave them 4th overall in the state, 3 spots better than their seed. . Next, one hour and forty five minutes after her 800, Reese McCommons ran her first state open event. She clocked 60.33 and finished 13th, 4 spots ahead of her seed. Our next event was the 3200 on Fri and it was something special. Eden Demino gutted out a 10:51 in the 2 mile for 6th, 3 spots ahead of her seed. It is the second fastest time in BMHS track history and the new altitude school record. She competed and hung with some of the best distance runners in the country! Closing out the girls competition, the 4x4 set a season PR of 4:08 and finished 13th, 5 spots ahead of their seed. The lone competitor on Saturday was Kye Gosnell in the PV. Kye battleded weather and pole issues to set a 5' lifetime best finishing 12th. That was 2 spots better than he was seeded coming in. It was an unforgettable State meet and we as coaches couldn't be prouder.

Ellie is the definition of what it means to be a team player. Whether she’s clearing hurdles, blazing down the track, or simply showing up with a smile, her energy lifts everyone around her. She puts in the work when no one’s watching and leads by example when everyone is, and the younger athletes on this team are lucky to have someone like her to look up to.

Will doesn’t say much, he just gets it done. Hurdles? He’s there. Relay? Put him in. Monster mid-distance Mondays? He shows up every single time. He battled through shin issues this season without a single complaint and kept grinding anyway. Will is the kind of athlete every team needs, dependable, tough, and always ready to step up.

Check out our latest Athletes of the Week - Hannah & Riley! Hannah has done an awesome job leading the girls’ team all season & she’s put down some big PRs in recent weeks. Riley is new to high school track this year, but you wouldn’t know it from watching him. He’s become a young stud & has been blowing up his distance events! Big things happening for these two superstars!

League was 🔥🔥🔥! The Huskies went out and left it all on the track. We had a ton of amazing performances. Eden Demino torched her way to victory in the 3200 and finished 2nd in the 1600. Knox Holton was fourth in both the 100 and 200. Kye Gosnell earned 3rd place in the pole vault. While the duo of Caroline Provencher and Reese McCommons went 2nd and 3rd in the 400. Simone Dozois captured second place in the disc and set a new PR. We have one more meet this season before state and we are looking to close the season out with a bang!

Austin,Sophia, Reese, and Nate dog have been absolutely crushing it this season, with some massive PR's from all of them! They all demonstrate amazing examples for our future dawgs. This group has put incredible amounts of work in this season and it has paid off big time, Reese has been crushing the 400 and never lets her 4x4 team down, Austin continues to improve his 1600 and 3200 all season, Sophia has done outstanding work in her 100s and 200s every meet, and Nate dog proceeds to impress us all with his sub 2 min 800! Great job crew!

Oona and Knox - Amazing Athletes of the week! Oona has been on a tear lately in the distance races in her Freshmsn year. She has been working hard and going for broke! Knox is doing track his first time as a Senior, but you would never know it. He is sprinting and vaulting up a storm. He currently has logged Top 10 times for BMHS ever in the 100 and 200! These athletes have both been impressive on their own ways! Way to go Oona and Knox!

It did not feel like spring break this week with snow at both of the meets, but the kids didn't bat an eyelash! Again, thank you so much to all the volunteers that made our home meet possible. We couldn't have done it without you! We had some amazing marks this week between the two meets there were lots of PRs. We are looking forward to our post season coming up after break!

BMHS Track and Field Community,
We can't thank you enough for all the help pulling off a great home meet. The weather was a little shaky at first, but came around to sun and blue skies! We had over 50 volunteers that all pitched in to run this massive event of 7 plus sports at one time! Big thanks to Kelly Holton, Cherie Rollins, Jen Beuche and River Norberg who volunteered all day, and basically moved the entire event along. Thanks to Jeff Apps for announcing, all the coaches for running events all day, and everyone who gave their time and energy. All of our athletes and teams appreciate every one of you!

Gracias!

GJ was a big one for the Huskies with a ton of great marks! The sprints squad was hotter than a billy goat in a pepper patch. Braelyn Baumgarten lead the way two massive PR's in the 100 and 200 this week. She has really been finding her stride as of late ( oh yes, pun intended!). Haven Heaphy continued her climb towards the 200 meter top ten list with less than .6 seconds to climb into 10th place all time. Knox Holton and Finn Hooper both blazed amazing times in their 100 and 200, with lifetime bests in both events. Nate Beuche secured 10th place all time in the mile running 4:30.99, so he now owns spots on both the mile and 2 mile top ten! The Girls 4x200 and 4x800 both ran season PRs and on the distance side Oona Carlin ran a mile and 2 mile lifetime PRs.

Congrats to our latest Athletes of the Week - Haven Heaphy & Micah Willard. Haven has been putting in work all season and left last weekend's meet at Eagle Valley with a few new PRs to prove it. She also put down a blazing first leg in the 4x400. Micah has been game for whatever we've thrown at him and even jumped in the 4x400 last weekend when a few of his teammates went down with injuries. These 2 underclassmen have been nothing short of impressive so far this season!
