It's hard for me to believe that yesterday was 8 years since "Mr. Cub" Hall of Famer Ernie Banks passed away. Several years before he passed, Ernie had asked Cubs super fan and Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder to write a song about the Cubs. I happened to be at a Cubs camp the day Ernie passed, Eddie Vedder was there too.
The next day was a banquet where Eddie sang this heartfelt rendition of the Cubs tribute song Ernie asked him to write - "All The Way" It was emotional. I recorded Eddie singing "All The Way" that evening (attached link). Eddie changed some lyrics in memory of our friend, "Mr. Cub" Ernie Banks. Less than two years later, the Cubs indeed went "ALL THE WAY!"

Some super cool news this weekend coming out of the Cubs Convention. Ryne Sandberg is going to be honored with a statue outside Wrigley Field. And his double play turning mates, Shawon Dunston and Mark Grace were announced as the newest members of the Cubs Hall of Fame. Congratulations to those three!!! Love to see that era getting recognized by the organization.
With that said, one of the favorite funny videos I've captured over the years is of Ryno, Dunston, and Grace in batting practice having a hitting contest. They score points for total bases within a certain number of pitches. If you haven't seen it, it's hilarious and really shows these guys being natural and having fun. Dunston can't stop digging himself deeper and deeper. The hitting contest starts at 1 minute and 14 seconds into the video. Enjoy!
