We are beginning to plan the biggest, boldest new summer schedule of AZBC badminton camps for kids, high schoolers and adults than ever before. Be ready for the unveiling next week!

We did it! We finally were able to hold the 2020 AZBC Arizona Badminton Championships! Over the last 2 Saturdays we held the Open Women Singles and Open Men Singles (Sat, Dec 12) and the Open Women Doubles, Open Men Doubles, and Open Mixed Doubles (Sat, Dec 19). Very small draws, but the action was amazingly competitive and hard fought. Hitomi Sato won the OWS. Anthony Phillips won the OMS. Hitomi and Mai Le won the OWD. Anthony and Guy Chadwick won the OMD. Chinmai Basavaraj and Yuni Yeoh won the OMX!

We also finished our court line painting in record time preparing for the annual court painting on Tuesday, Dec 22. We will be closed for Christmas and paint drying from Dec 22-25. We will reopen Dec 26-31, with regular sign up hours, except for New Year's Eve, Noon-3pm only. Closed New Year's Day.

Sign up sessions during weekdays: 2pm-6pm, 6:30-8:45pm; weekends: 2pm-4:30pm. Limited to 24 each session.

It has been a long season of pandemic closures and restrictions and still continuing, but... we are open and active with lots of great open play 7 days a week since Sept 1.

We are currently open M-Th, 2pm - 9pm, Fri, 2pm-10pm, and Sat-Sun, Noon-4pm. Weekday evenings and weekend afternoons require sign-ups and are limited to keep the numbers down.

We have scheduled our first tournament!!! The annual AZBC Arizona Badminton Championships, normally held in April, will be held on Saturdays, December 12 & 19. We will only host OPEN events, Women and Men Singles & Doubles, and Mixed Doubles, to keep the draws much smaller and number of participants down. The Women and Men Singles will be held starting at 9am on Sat, Dec 12 until the early afternoon. The Women and Men Doubles and Mixed Doubles will be held the following Saturday, Dec 18, starting at 9am and running through the afternoon.

The entry form will be available by email request or at the AZBC Pro Shop.

Save the dates: 2020 AZBC Arizona Badminton Championships scheduled for Saturdays, April 11 & 18. The first Saturday will be Open, "B", Collegiate, Senior Men & Women Doubles, and all the KIDS events. The second Saturday will be Open, "B", Collegiate, Senior Men & Women Singles & Mixed events.

The 2019 HOLIDAY BOWL TOURNAMENT is SAT, NOV 23 - earlier, bigger and better this year with a couple of new additions. It includes the HS BOYS STATE BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIPS, OPEN Men & Women Doubles, SENIOR Men & Women Doubles, HS Girls Doubles, and... a new COLLEGIATE Men & Women Doubles, and... a special TOP 4 HS GIRLS Singles & Doubles DIVISION 1 vs. DIVISION 2 FACE-OFF series of 8 Exhibition Matches! I guess the summer is officially over since schools are back in session and the club is extra busy with Kids Classes, high school training sessions and clinics in preparation for the new AIA High School season, and lots of open play for everybody! We concluded the second Saturday of the 2019 AZBC ARIZONA BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIPS this past weekend with the longest, most competitive Singles and Mixed events ever. More than 12 hours of constant play yielded the new Open Women, Open Men and Open Mixed Doubles Champions, as well as B & C Women, B & Senior Men, and B & Senior Mixed winners.

Congratulations to: Hitomi Sato, Open Women Singles and Open Mixed Doubles with her husband, Hiroki Sato, and Neil Chen, Open Men Singles Champion. Last Saturday, Wey Lyn Lee and My Ta were the Open Women Doubles Champions, and Seigo and Steve Hashimoto were the Open Men Doubles Champions.

The 8th Annual AZBC Arizona Badminton Championships is coming up Sat, April 13, Kids (U11 & U14 singles, doubles and mixed) and all Adult Doubles (Men, Women, Open & Senior), and Sat, April 20th, Adult Singles and Mixed (Open and Senior). The 2019 New Year is going strong at the AZBC with the AZBC HL BADMINTON ACADEMY Session #2 starting today and running through Feb 23 with Wed (4-6pm) and Sat (10am-Noon) practices, and our regular weekly schedule of KIDS CLASSES (Mon & Wed, 6-7pm), KIDS LEVEL 2 (Fri, 5-6:30pm) and INTRO ADULT CLASSES (Thu, 6-7pm).
