Our hearts are full reflecting on our trip to American Samoa to perform for the celebration of the 126th American Samoa Flag Day. We had the incredible opportunity to represent our homeland and our diaspora islander communities from Arizona and across the United States. A truly life-changing experience, enriched through hands-on cultural learning, the rekindling of family connections, the broadening of perspectives, and the creation of priceless memories.

Thank you American Samoa Council on Arts, Culture, and Humanities for the honor of being able to perform at the 50th Performing Arts Festival and participate in the Flag Day Parade.

Special thanks to our marketing sponsors, Wilhouse Living Solutions and The Newman Center whose generous support we couldn’t have done without. We owe so much of this experience to the love and encouragement of our community near and far.

We are grateful for the journey, the culture, and the people. Vi’ia le Atua 🇦🇸☝🏽❤️

Happy 126th American Samoa Flag Day 🇦🇸🇺🇸

It was an honor to march in today’s parade as the only invited group from the United States, representing American Samoans across the diaspora.

From Arizona to American Samoa, we carried our culture with pride, honoring our heritage and the responsibility that comes with representing our people.

A moment of humility, purpose, and connection.

Fa’afetai tele lava, American Samoa.

Our Tamāli’i students were blessed with a truly heartfelt and unforgettable cultural experience here in American Samoa. 🇦🇸

From husking coconuts, scraping the coconut flesh, and squeezing fresh coconut cream… to preparing breadfruit, green bananas, and taro. Our students didn’t just observe, they learned through their hands, through laughter, and through shared moments with the community.

They experienced the beautiful process of making palusami with fresh taro leaves, learned how traditional Samoan cocoa (koko Samoa) is prepared, and created their own Samoan elei designs on ie lavalavas, each moment filled with meaning, pride, and connection.

These are the experiences that go far beyond the stage. This is culture being lived, shared, and passed down. These are the memories our students will carry for a lifetime, learning not just the movements of dance, but the heart of the Samoan way of life.

We are deeply grateful to the families in Tafeta, Ioane, Maui’a, Moea’i, Purcell, & Tiumalu for the knowledge shared, the warm hospitality, and the love shown to our Tamāli’i aiga. This experience has truly filled our hearts and strengthened our connection to the culture we are proud to represent.
