Do you feel like you’ve tried EVERYTHING to lose weight and be healthy?⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
I spent 5 years hopping from diet to diet trying to find the one that would finally work for me.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
I spent majority of my time in the gym, thinking about needing to workout, or planning a workout.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
I tracked my calories and macros, meal prepped, meal planned, fasted, did whole30, tried weight watchers, went paleo… It was exhausting.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
But, then, I switched majors from Elementary Ed. to Exercise and Wellness and the veil was lifted!!⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
I finally learned the truth: ⁣⁣⁣
Health is not found in dieting. ⁣⁣⁣
Health is found in balance, variety, and moderation. ⁣⁣⁣
Health is not one size fits all.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Losing weight is NOT just “calories in vs calories out”.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Our weight is determined by a variation of activity level, nutrition, sleep quality and quantity, genetics, culture, age, race, family history, + more.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
What does this mean for you? ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
You don’t have to stay stuck in the workout-diet-quit-workout-diet-quit cycle!!⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
I created a coaching program for women like me and like you, called The Balanced Living Blueprint, who want to:⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
✨Eat healthy while feeling good and eating foods they love.⁣⁣⁣
✨Exercise consistently while doing workouts they enjoy.⁣⁣⁣
✨Build confidence and take care of their body.⁣⁣⁣
✨Create healthy habits that are maintainable⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
This program is 90 days and you get:⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
✨5 video modules that go over mindset, nutrition, body image, healthy habits, and confidence⁣⁣⁣
✨A fully personalized 90 day workout program including a workout app with video guidance for proper form⁣⁣⁣
✨1:1 daily messaging access with me for any questions and support you need⁣⁣⁣
✨Biweekly Zoom group calls for community and to keep you accountable⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Are you ready to get out of the workout-diet-quit cycle?⁣⁣⁣

I love coaching because it’s fun watching each client come to this realization:⁣

“Wow.. I was so focused on my diet and weight loss that I was missing out on every other part of my life”.⁣

Here is a list of things my clients have told me over the years that they now get to enjoy:⁣

Birthday parties.⁣
Work.⁣
Pool parties.⁣
Baking.⁣
Their unique body.⁣
Weddings.⁣
Friendships.⁣
Vacations.⁣
Dating/Marriage.⁣
Cooking for fun.⁣
Pizza. Ice cream. ⁣
Balanced meals.⁣
Exercise.⁣
Self care.⁣

As a society we are so conditioned to focus on weight loss that we forget to enjoy life’s greatest pleasures. ⁣

We fall trap to focusing so much on our food and bodies that it steals the joy away from other areas of our lives.⁣

It’s okay to want to be healthy, I encourage that above all else. ⁣

But weight loss doesn’t equal health. Being thin doesn’t mean you are healthy.⁣

There is more to your life (and health) than weight loss. ⁣

Don’t be so busy trying to lose weight that you forget to live other parts of your life.⁣

If you have to miss out on majority of your life just to weigh less, what kind of life is that?⁣

What to do when you feel the urge to binge:

You cannot rely on willpower to prevent binges when they surface.⁣ So what do you do?!⁣
⁣⁣
Here’s the truth: Your bingeing is not the real issue. Bingeing is an after effect of a trigger.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Instead of relying on willpower, I want to encourage you to find the root of your trigger.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
There are 3 main triggers to bingeing:⁣⁣
✨Restriction- Mentally by labeling foods as bad or physically by avoiding foods/restricting calories (dieting)⁣⁣
✨Hunger- Physically too hungry because of undereating or waiting too long to eat⁣⁣
✨Emotions- Using food as a coping mechanism for boredom, stress, anxiety, etc. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
One of these; restriction, hunger, or emotions are what cause you to feel triggered to binge. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So, when you feel that urge to binge, I want you to take a step back, take a breath, and marinate on this list. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
After you find your trigger (or a mix of multiple triggers) you can work on healing that trigger.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Here’s the tricky part- it’s hard to tackle bingeing alone.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It’s hard to turn away from diet culture and work on yourself. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It’s hard to dive deep and face your biggest fears. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
But I’m here for you. Always. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
You don’t have to be alone anymore. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Balanced By Blum was created for women just like you who are wanting to better themselves, improve their confidence, and live a healthier life. ⁣⁣

How Sarah was able to create a balanced, healthy lifestyle WITHOUT focusing on weight loss.⁣

Do you feel like in order to be healthy, love your body, and gain confidence you need to lose weight?⁣

Think again.⁣🙈

Typically, my clients come to me focused on taking things away like restricting fast food, avoiding going out to restaurants, slashing carbs, and cutting sugar.⁣

Unfortunately, with an approach like this you end up feeling restricted, deprived, stressed, and anxious.⁣

Coming from this place triggers you to focus on all the things you “can’t have” rather than focus on all the positive things you can add to your life.⁣

When you can prioritize positive habits rather than restriction - your life will change.⁣

It happens for my clients alllll the time.⁣

They go from craving fast food every day to craving nutritious whole foods. ⁣

They go from restricting calories for weight loss to honoring their bodies hunger and fullness.⁣

They go from forcing exercise to implementing movements they love. ⁣

They go from forcing a unsustainable diet to eating foods they love with foods that make them feel amazing.⁣

Your intentions matter…⁣
And, they determine whether or not you “succeed” or “fail” in your health goals.⁣

There’s two underlying intentions that all others stem from:⁣

Fear & Love.⁣

The intention you choose is the one that will determine the progress that you make (or don’t make).⁣

Tap the photo to see how my client shifted her focus, and started to approach her health from a place of love and the incredible results that she experienced along the way.⁣

I used to follow countless bikini competitors and fitspo accounts back in the day. ⁣

Here are a two things I wish I would have known back then:⁣

1. Bikini competitors and figure competitors are athletes. ⁣

These competitions are a sport. ⁣

It is not recommended to follow their diets and workouts because you are not participating in that sport. ⁣

The meal prepping, weight tracking, calorie tracking, bland diet, and obsession with body fat is NOT a measure of health. It is a measure for the sport. ⁣

99% of these athletes have undiagnosed eating disorders. ⁣

They are not health professionals. Don’t take diet advice from these people. ⁣

Their way of living is not a sustainable or a healthy way of living.⁣

2. Just because someone else is eating 1200 calories and is “toned” does not mean you should be eating 1200 calories. ⁣

We all have such different bodies and lifestyles. ⁣

You can follow the exact same workout program and diet as someone else and you will still look completely different. ⁣

Please, stop trying to look like someone else just because they’re “fit and toned”.⁣

Please, stop taking health advice from people who are not professionals.⁣

Your caloric needs are not and will never be the same as someone else. ⁣

Your caloric needs are based on your own genetics, metabolism, age, s*x, activity level, etc.⁣

Finding sustainable methods that flow with your real life is the key.⁣

Instead of copying someone else’s calorie needs based on their body/sport- learn how to listen to your own body so you can eat the proper amount for you. ⁣

To do this, I highly recommend intuitive eating. ⁣

Intuitive eating helps you listen to your body, take care of your body, and feel amazing. ⁣

There is no dieting, restriction, or starving. ⁣

There is no excessive 2 a days, fasted cardio, or hours in the gym. ⁣

It’s all about taking care of yourself mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally. ⁣

If you want to learn how to eat intuitively I have a whole coaching program designed to teach you how to!⁣

If you are always thinking about food I want to encourage you to read this⁣ 👇🏼

I used to think that being hyper aware of what I was eating was healthy. ⁣

Until it crossed the boundary into constantly thinking about what I was eating. ⁣

Until it crossed the boundary into only allowing “good” foods. ⁣

Until it crossed the boundary into finishing lunch and immediately thinking what I was eating for my snack and dinner. ⁣

Until it crossed the boundary into hyper analyzing food labels and ingredients. ⁣

I wasn’t happy. ⁣

I wasn’t free. ⁣

I wasn’t mentaly or emotionally healthy. ⁣

I was trapped, stressed, overwhelmed, and obsessed with food. ⁣

Being aware is healthy. Being obsessed is not. ⁣

When I was struggling with this obsession I PRAYED for a program like Balanced By Blum. ⁣

But it didn’t exist. ⁣

Which is exactly why I created it for you!!⁣

I tailored this program to bridge the gap between being aware of your food choices while also being aware of your body’s signals, your mental health, and your emotional health. ⁣

With Balanced By Blum you get to learn how to eat healthy, be healthy, and feel healthy. ⁣

This program is the program I dreamed of. ⁣

You deserve to live the life of your dreams; free from food, peace with food, and self love.⁣

If you’re interested in learning more about what’s included, how it works, and if you’re a good fit, click the link in my bio to get a special PDF outlining all of this for you. ⁣

The hardest part I had to learn about my recovery- (Read this if you feel pressured to diet)⁣

You are brainwashed from movies, celebrities, TV shows, magazines, social media, and billboards that YOU need to be thinner. ⁣

YOU need to eat less. ⁣

YOU are not socially acceptable if you are not in a small body.⁣

Before recovery I had these rules stuck in my head:⁣

Eat smaller portions than your boyfriend. ⁣

Order a salad over a burger.⁣

Meals need to be under 500 calories. ⁣

Skip breakfast.⁣

You need to burn off/earn your calories. ⁣

Burn the most calories in a workout that you can.⁣

Wear a waist trainer.⁣

Do a detox.⁣

This. Is. Crap. ⁣

As women we are told that we don’t deserve to eat. ⁣

If you are:⁣

Ignoring these false messages. ⁣
Eating when you want to skip the meal. ⁣
Listening to your hunger instead of curbing it. ⁣
Nourishing your body. ⁣
Or just overall fighting back against diet culture⁣

I am so proud of you.⁣

The hardest part about my recovery was realizing that even though I made the decision to leave diet culture behind… it will always be there. ⁣

My skin is thicker, my head is stronger, but it’s still there. ⁣

Keep fighting. ⁣
Keep pushing. ⁣

Recovery is worth it. ⁣

I love you, keep it up. ⁣

Comment one diet culture “rule” that you just can’t seem to shake.⁣

An open letter from me, an eating disorder survivor:⁣

You cannot judge a person's health based on their weight, size, or shape. ⁣

I know PLENTY of unhealthy thin people and PLENTY of healthy fat people.⁣

Stop commenting on other people’s eating habits, bodies, and weight.⁣

Even if it’s a compliment for weight loss; it teaches “thinner is better” and “you should value your thin body”.⁣

As a society we HAVE TO stop talking about dieting and weight loss every single time we are around people. ⁣

And some will argure: “But I care about their health!”⁣

It doesn’t matter. ⁣

Trust me, if they are overweight, they know. ⁣

If they are underweight, they know.⁣

If they overeat, they know. ⁣

If they undereat, they know.⁣

They don’t need you telling them and worsening their battles. ⁣

Even if it’s well intentioned, you do not know what someone is going through, so just stop! ⁣

“You look so skinny!”⁣
“You’ve gained some weight!”⁣
“Are you really eating all of that?⁣
“Oh I could never eat that many carbs, i’d blow up like a whale!”⁣
“Are you sure you don’t want a salad?”⁣
“I wish I could be thin and tiny like you!”⁣
“You should eat more!!”⁣

You don’t know if someone-⁣
Is struggling⁣
Is sick⁣
Is depressed⁣
Has an eating disorder⁣
Etc.⁣

So please stop. There are better things to compliment other than someone’s body.⁣

Love,⁣
An eating disorder survivor- who had dozens of people complimenting and praising how thin she was.⁣

⁣ ⁣

This might ruffle some feathers but here I go…⁣

If you:⁣

-Eat “good” M-F⁣
-Lose control Sat and Sun⁣
-Eat whatever you want over the weekend⁣
-Start over again on Monday⁣

This is a binge eating cycle created by dieting.⁣

Binge eating has different variations of severity.⁣

You could be (rough examples based on past clients/self):⁣

Mild: Mindlessly snacking when stressed/bored/anxious at work or watching TV, when you’re not actually hungry ⁣

Moderate: Ditching your diet every weekend and eating whatever you want, pushing past fullness to “get it in now” before your diet starts again Monday⁣

Severe: Binge eating every time you get access to restricted foods, binge eating to cope with emotions, eating until physically sick, etc. ⁣

Most don’t recognize that they are struggling with bingeing and they jump to “i don’t have any willpower”, “I just can’t stick to my diet”, and “I don’t know how to eat healthy without dieting”⁣

This is simply not true, the real struggle is dieting and being trapped in a binge eating cycle. ⁣

Here’s how my clients have gotten out:⁣

Make peace with food.⁣
Honoring your body’s communication (hunger/fullness)⁣
End the restrictions (calorically or specific foods)⁣
Develop healthy coping mechanisms ⁣
Sort through emotions healthfully ⁣
Stop dieting.⁣

My coaching program, Balanced By Blum, was designed for these exact struggles. ⁣

The TOP mindset shift you need to make to improve your body image: 👇🏼

HOLY COW I wish I would have had someone tell me this when I first started my health journey. ⁣

I’ve learned alot over the years- the hard way. ⁣
I’m talking about breakdowns, years of therapy, eating disorders, and crazy diets.⁣😯

I am so grateful to have been through what I have, because now, as a Wellness Specialist, I get to guide you through these traps!⁣

I thought JUST like you. ⁣

I wanted to get healthy- so I turned to diet and exercise, not knowing how damaging dieting truly is to my mental AND physical health. ⁣

Here’s the thing: your weight is influenced by A LOT more than just your diet and exercise. ⁣

Your weight is determined by your-⁣
Nutrition habits⁣
Sleep⁣
Exercise⁣
Genetics⁣
Metabolism⁣
Hormones⁣
Race/Ethnicity⁣
Age⁣
Culture⁣
Family’s history⁣
Sex⁣
Medical conditions⁣
Past dieting history⁣
AND MORE.⁣🤯

I’ve found that my clients focus so much on diet and exercise that they forget that there are TONS of uncontrollable factors also influencing their weight. ⁣

You can diet and exercise all you want but statistically speaking, your weight will go back up.⁣

Now, i’m not saying eating well and exercising is bad. But punishing your body for being larger than you want it to be because of a dozen uncontrollable factors is not healthy nor is it kind to yourself.⁣❤️

So the one mindset shift you need to make is:⁣

Healthy/Positive Lifestyle > Weight/Looks⁣

👉🏼It is time that we STOP focusing on weight and looks and START focusing on simply taking care of our bodies.⁣👈🏼

I promise when you make this shift, you will be alot happier, healthier, and more confident. ⁣😘

I know how hard it can be to make this mindset shift, so if you have any questions, my DMs are always open! ⁣

Diet culture bashes you and tells you to never eat processed foods. ⁣

But then turns around and sells it to you, claiming it’ll fix all your problems. ⁣

“Want to be healthy? Alright, DONT EAT PROCESSED FOODS THEYRE FROM THE DEVIL!!!”⁣

“But wait... ⁣
Here’s a meal replacement shake.⁣
Here’s protein powder.⁣
Here’s a protein bar.⁣
Here’s some GF crackers.⁣
Here’s some preworkout.”⁣

I fell trap to this too. ⁣
All of these fixes diet culture promotes as healthy and profits off of... are processed. ⁣

You have two options here-⁣

Include them if you like them and don’t if you don’t!⁣

They aren’t magic.⁣

Processed foods are not going to kill you.⁣
It’s okay to have a protein shake or some cookies.⁣

Just know that processed is processed. ⁣

We live in a society where it’s near impossible to avoid processed foods so stop freaking out about them! ❤️ ⁣

You are allowed to have protein powder, chips, cookies, protein bars, etc. ⁣

Healthy eating includes a balance of whole foods like fruits, veggies, healthy fats, whole grains, proteins AND you’re also allowed to be healthy and enjoy some processed foods!⁣

Food is food. ⁣

Share this post if you’ve ever been tricked by this sneaky marketing ❤️ ⁣
