HIGH WIND DAMAGE & POWER OUTAGE UPDATE
Tuesday, September 29, 2026 — Evening Update

High winds moved through Gallerito Flats, downing numerous trees and power poles. Power outages are affecting Mescalero, South Tularosa Canyon, and surrounding areas.

Otero County Electric Cooperative “OCEC” crews are working to restore power, but no estimated restoration time is available yet.

Tribal staff are conducting welfare checks on elders in affected areas. If you or someone in your household has medical needs due to the outage, please contact the Mescalero EOC for assistance.

Safety reminders:

Stay away from downed power lines; assume every line is energized.

Do not move fallen trees or limbs near power lines.

Report hazards to OCEC or the Tribal EOC.
