Team Louisiana 18U Freestyle

Team Louisiana hit the mats today for the Freestyle portion of the Junior/18U National Freestyle Duals. The team was placed in a highly competitive pool and faced some of the toughest competition in the tournament. Despite a challenging start, the boys never backed down and continued to battle through every match.

After pool play, Team Louisiana earned a spot in the Teal Bracket and responded with an impressive 3-0 run to advance to the championship match. The team squared off against Alabama with the bracket title on the line and put together a strong effort before ultimately coming up just short.

The boys finished as Teal Bracket runners-up and represented Louisiana with toughness, resilience, and pride throughout the tournament. Team Louisiana will return home tomorrow night with valuable experience and plenty to build on for the future.

The Turners have been a staple of the Louisiana wrestling community for more than 25 years. Troy graduated from Holy Cross in 2007 and began officiating in 2009. He still officiates today and is currently in his 17th season in stripes.

The wrestling community isn’t just part of Troy’s life—it’s part of Brooks’ life too. Brooks has been involved in wrestling for the past two years, making friends and memories on the mat while becoming a member of our wrestling family.

Recently, Troy’s 7-year-old son, Brooks, was diagnosed with leukemia. We wanted to do something for them, and since we already had a CCW store running, we figured this would be a great way to show Brooks our support and let him know the wrestling community is standing with him in this fight.

A portion of the proceeds will go directly to the Turner family. We also have a GoFundMe running for them. Both links are in the bio. Anything you can do to support the Turners is greatly appreciated.
