I really like this decision;
granted he’s no Jim Henderson, but he has a lot of experience as a Saint and played on the Super Bowl winning team with , so there y’all have it.
Best of luck, Zach and:

“The new play-by-play announcer for New Orleans Saints games will be Zach Strief.

Strief retired from playing for the Saints last year.

A news release says that the twelve year offensive tackle is joining his ex-teammate, Deuce McAllister, in the broadcast booth.

“I’m thrilled about the opportunity and humbled by the faith and belief WWL and the Saints have in me. I also want all Saints fan to know I will work tirelessly to bring you the best game day experience possible,” Strief said. “Jim Henderson left big shoes to fill; he’s a legend. When I relive all the great moments in Saints history - the big wins, playoffs, Super Bowl, I hear Jim’s voice. Nobody will work harder to live up to the expectations of Saints fans.”

McAllister provides the color analysis for the broadcasts, and says he can't wait to work with his former teammate on the field, now in the broadcast booth.

"If there are any doubters out there, all I have to say is this - never stack the odds against Zach," McAllister insisted. “He’s a 7th round pick, who busted his butt to become one of the best in the league."

WWL says Strief brought that same attitude to learning how to be a broadcaster, calling more than 100 recorded games and working with McAllister and professional critics to hone his play-by-play skills.

"This is gonna be fun,” McAllister said.

WWL is an Entercom station. Entercom New Orleans Sr. VP/GM Chris Wegmann said, “When we set the criteria for the new ‘Voice of the Saints’ we not only want professional play calls, but also someone who has a deep connection to the team, the fans and our community. Zach possesses all of those qualities, knows the game firsthand and is a fixture in the New Orleans community. We’re very excited about adding him to the team.”

What will the new broadcast team sound like?

"What fans will hear from Zach and Deuce during the play-by-play and between the calls is magic,” said Diane Newman, Operations & Program Director for WWL.

“And, that chemistry, that passion will go beyond the games to on-air and digital content. WWL and the Saints Radio Network now have three resident pros - Bobby Hebert, Deuce McAllister and Zach Strief. That’s unmatched institutional knowledge. We’re thrilled about the possibilities.”

Strief begins calling Saints games with the preseason opener at Jacksonville on Thursday, August 9th.

WWL says that in addition to play-by-play, Streif will be a guest on “Sports Talk with Bobby Hebert” for special Saints Training Camp broadcasts, starting tomorrow.”

The Saints' first practice of training camp is 8 days away, and another veteran running back is joining the Black and Gold:

Shane Vereen is 29 years old and was a second round pick by the Patriots in 2011. He worked out for the Saints last month, with the team in search of a fill-in for Mark Ingram, who will miss the first 4 games of the year due to a suspension for PEDs.

In 2017, Vereen appeared in all 16 games for the New York Giants and rushed for 164 yards on 45 carries with 44 receptions for 253 yards receiving. He can also play a role on special teams, as he racked up 196 kick return yards last year.
