Down 11 Pounds And Counting šŸ™Œ

When my client, Aleda, first reached out, she told me something I hear a lot:

ā€œI’ve lost weight before… I just can’t seem to keep it off though.ā€

She didn’t need another quick fix.

She needed a sustainable approach that actually fit her lifestyle

One that made her life easier and not more difficult.

Fast forward 7 weeks, and she’s already down 11 pounds and not slowing down anytime soon. šŸ’Ŗ

But the real win?

-She’s feeling stronger.
-She’s more consistent.
-She’s seeing the changes in the mirror
-More importantly, she feels the shift in her mindset.

That’s what makes results stick, which is the part most people forget.

That’s what changes your life—not just your weight.

I couldn’t be more proud of her and pumped to see all the progress she's going to make as we keep moving forward!

If you’re ready for something that lasts, just shoot me a message.

We’ll chat and see if my program is the right fit for you too.

ā€œI know what to do… I just can’t stay consistent.ā€

That’s what most people tell me before we start working together.
And I get it—because I said the same thing for years.

It’s not that you’re lazy. Or unmotivated.

It’s that your strategy doesn’t match your lifestyle.

And your expectations are built around perfection, not progress.

Here’s what changed everything for me (and now my clients too):

1. I simplified the plan

2. I stopped starting over every time I slipped up

3. I focused on just getting 1% better, not being 100% perfect

That’s what worked for me and that's exactly how client has lost 40+ pounds while juggling being a new dad and traveling for work.

So this is just your reminder: progress > perfection.

Always.

Keep getting 1% better.

"Keep encouraging me and telling me I'm not failing"

Every week I have my clients fill out a form where and I ask how I can best support them.

That was the response I got from my client, Kyle.

He's currently down about 40 lbs and hit a little plateau.

To be expected considering the fact he just became a 1st time parent!

We hopped on a call last week though and we talked through everything.

He was worried he wasn't doing enough.

I hear this a lottttt.

I assured him he'd be just fine when he got used to his new normal with a little one to care for now.

We set up some simple targets to focus on for the next week.

He did his part and executed the plan and guess what happened?

He hit a lowest weight on the scale since we've been working together.

A weight he hasn't seen since his high school days.

My role as coach is get you focused on the right things with the right plan for you.

And then guide you along the way, especially when things get more difficult which trust me they always do at some point! šŸ˜‚

The truth is everyone starts with good intentions but very few people see it through and reach their goals and get the things they really want.

That's what I'm here for.

As long as you as you don't give up on yourself we'll get you there.

If you want to lose weight, get in better shape, and feel better than you have in a long time.

Shoot me a message and we'll talk. We'll see if you're a good fit for what I offer.

Until then, keep getting 1% better. šŸ¤

Tips on how to better use the scale ā¬‡ļø

1. Weight yourself at least 3-4x per week (daily is fine too)
2. Do it first thing in the morning after you go to bathroom so it's more accurate
3. Stop freaking out when the scale is up. It's just water fluctuations not fat gain.

Don't make this more complicated than it needs to be.

Weekends the reason you can't lose weight? Try This ā¬‡ļø

Let’s say you need to eat 2000 calories per day to lose weight

Instead, you could lower your calories from Sunday through Friday by 250 calories.

250 x 6 days = 1500 extra calories to use for the weekend

Now you have a day you can eat 3500 calories instead of just 2000

Similar to the way you budget for big expenses you can do the same thing with food

This gives you more flexibility so you can go out to eat, have a couple of drinks, or whatever else you want to do that day.

The best part is you’re still in a calorie deficit for the week and can still lose weight.

This strategy has been key for me losing 100 pounds while still being able to enjoy a social life.

I still go out to eat or have some drinks, I just do my best to plan ahead and "budget" for these things.

This method is called calorie cycling, and can be to lose or maintain weight loss.

It allows for more flexibility if you want to indulge more on the weekend.

It doesn’t mean your weekend is a free-for-all and you can eat as much as you want, but if you use it right it can be helpful!

Struggling to get enough protein then do this ⬇

You’re already eating protein in most of your meals and if you’re not then start.

1ļøāƒ£ Double your protein portion at meals

This is the easiest place to start because it takes no extra time or effort.

Instead of 3 ounces of protein, eat 6 ounces.

Instead 2 eggs, add an extra cup of egg whites.

Rather than a half cup of Greek yogurt or cottage cheese, have a full cup.

2ļøāƒ£ Add 1-2 protein snacks

If you still need more protein at a protein snack between meals.

Cottage cheese, greek yogurt, tuna, protein bar, or protein shake or some easy options.

3ļøāƒ£ Get a whey protein supplement

Protein powders make getting more protein easy.

You can use them in shakes or add them to foods like oats, yogurt, ice cream, etc.

Do these 3 things and I promise you’ll have no issues getting enough protein in your day. šŸ¤

Life Updateā€¼ļø

This past 12 months has been a wild mix of fun, challenges, and growth.

At 31 I’ve hit some cool milestones

I’m in the best shape of my life šŸ’ŖšŸ¾

Started drinking coffee ā˜•ļø (finally šŸ˜…)

Traveled and spent more time with the best friends I could ask for āœˆļø

And what I’m most excited about is I’ve continued growing Bass Built Fitness!

The dream of building something of my own that helps improve lives through fitness is now a reality.

Over the past year things have grown a bit

-The Fit(ish) Newsletter has close to 500 subscribers

-Recorded the 80th podcast episode of the Fit(ish) Project

-My social media has grown to over 25,000 people

This journey started when I left my teaching job to take a risk and pursue this passion full-time.

I’m not going to lie…I was so damn scared to take that leap.

And the doubts still happen almost daily.

• Am I helping enough people?
• What if I fail?
• Should I be further along by now?

I don’t have all the answers, but what I do know is I’m gonna keep showing up.

Fitness changed my life, and helping others transform theirs is the most rewarding feeling.

To everyone who’s supported me—thank you.

It makes the challenging days worth it.

And to everyone I get to help in the future.

I look forward to getting 1% better right along side you. šŸ¤

One of those moments you never forget but wish you could relive a millions times.

You ever look back a choices you made years ago and think about how it changed the entire trajectory of your life?

Here we are 10+ years later on a boat in Miami because we decided to come from different parts of the country to play football at a small college in Iowa.

A lot of my best memories and best friends came from that one choice made as a 17 year old kid.

I remember being super nervous and unsure about making that decision but things worked out better than I could have thought.

The older I get the more I realize a lot of life’s best experiences happen after taking those leaps and jumping into situations that make you nervous.

Definitely thankful for that one choice and even more thankful for dudes like the ones in this picture.

Much love for some of the best guys I know šŸ–¤šŸ¦…

Did you know people with more muscle mass live longer lives?? šŸ’Ŗ

But not just longer lives but better quality lives too

As you get older if you don’t have muscle and strength to do all the things you love it’s going to directly effect how happy you are

It’s not something we think much about when we’re younger but

I’m sure you’ve had a parent or grandparent who can’t get around like they used and it’s sad to watch

Maybe you’ve already noticed it’s getting harder to do certain things

Well building muscle today is way to help prevent that!

And it’s not something you want to keep putting off because we naturally lose muscle as we age

Losing muscle sucks but if you’re strength training you can reverse that or at the very least slow it way down as you get older

Get some form of strength training in the routine at least a 2-4x per week

If you need a strength routine to get you started shoot me a message and we’ll get you on the right track šŸ’Ŗ

And that’s okay šŸ¤

We all want faster results

Every single one of us

I know you’re smart though

And I don’t have to tell you that anything worth while takes time

And that things that are just handed to us we never really value anyway

So would losing weight or getting in great shape or feeling your absolute best be easy?

No probably not

It’s going to take time and more than likely longer than you want

It’s important to set the right expectations up front so you’re not discouraged as your working towards your goals

Pick a goal that really means something to you and focus on the daily actions you need to achieve that goal

Don’t focus on how long it’s going to take
