The best pilot in the Army crashed the best plane ever built.

Not because he lacked talent — because the plane had outgrown what talent alone could handle. The fix wasn’t more training. It was a checklist. Ninety years later, every commercial flight still starts with one. Your website is the same. If it’s not booking discovery calls, that’s not a talent problem. It’s a systems problem.

I’ve worked with Kellogg. With Marriott. With Seagram. And the biggest lesson I took from those brands — I use every day with coaches.
Big brands obsess over one thing above everything else: the customer’s problem.

Not the product. Not the logo. Not the design system.

The problem the customer is experiencing and exactly how they make it go away.

Coaches do the opposite. They lead with credentials, methodology, and philosophy.

But here’s what I know from working at both levels: people buy solutions, not bios.

It doesn’t matter if you’re Kellogg or a solo life coach. The principle is the same.

Lead with their problem. Show them the path. Make it easy to say yes.

Follow for strategy that works at every level — from solo coaches to global brands.

You don’t get a second chance at a first impression. And your website is making one every single day.

Every time someone lands on your homepage, they form an opinion in about 50 milliseconds.

Before they read a word. Before they watch your intro video. Before they scroll.

They’ve already decided: does this feel professional? Does this feel relevant to me? Do I want to stay?

Most coaching websites fail that 50-millisecond test.

Not because of bad design — because of unclear positioning. If it’s not obvious who you help and why in the first glance, they’re already on their way out.

A steel town, a Navy ship, 3,000+ entrepreneurs, and a mountain in Costa Rica. That’s the whole résumé. 👇

My grandmother and aunts/uncles raised me in Aliquippa, PA, on one rule: life is what you make it. The Navy showed me how — you don’t bet on talent, you build a process that works every time. And after 25+ years of building websites for coaches and consultants, I can tell you the same rule runs your business: the coaches winning right now aren’t more gifted than you. Their websites just have a system doing the selling.

That’s the work I do every day from Atenas, Costa Rica — turning coach websites into client acquisition systems.

So here’s my question for you: what’s the one lesson from where YOU grew up that still runs your business today?

And if your website isn’t booking calls yet — comment CHECKLIST and I’ll DM you the free Website Conversion Checklist.

Coaching niches explained using food. You’re welcome.
Life coaching: the buffet. Something for everyone. Nothing memorable.

Business coaching: the steakhouse. You know exactly what you’re getting. Expensive and worth it.

Health coaching: the smoothie bar. Very specific customer. Very loyal.

Relationship coaching: the Italian grandmother’s kitchen. Nobody asked how it works. It just does.

Website coaching: [hold up coffee] The thing that makes all the other things actually function.

What coaching niche are you? Drop it in the comments. I need to know what food you are.

There was a specific day I stopped being a freelancer and started being a business owner. I remember exactly when it happened.

A client called me at 9pm to talk through revisions. I answered.

A different client emailed at 6am expecting a response before breakfast. I gave it.

I was making decent money. And I was completely owned by my clients.

The shift happened when I built systems that set expectations automatically. An onboarding sequence that explained response times. A project portal where clients could check status without calling me. A contract that defined the relationship before we started.

I didn’t lose clients. I lost the bad clients.

The good ones stayed. And they respected the structure.

Follow if you’re ready to stop being a freelancer and start being a business owner.

The website you love and the website that converts are often two very different websites.

Here’s a hard truth: most coaches design and write their website for themselves.

The colors they like. The fonts that feel ‘on brand.’ The copy that sounds smart and sophisticated.

But your client isn’t looking for sophisticated. They’re looking for clarity.

‘Do you understand my problem?’ That’s the only question they’re asking.

When you write for yourself, you answer questions your client didn’t ask. When you write for them — really for them — everything changes.

Drop a 🙋 if you’ve ever fallen in love with your own website copy.

The five stages of grief — coaching website edition.

Denial: ‘My website is fine. It just needs more traffic.’

Anger: ‘Why is everyone else booking calls and I’m not?!’

Bargaining: ‘If I just add one more section, one more testimonial...’

Depression: ‘I’ve been working on this for six months. I should just quit.’

Acceptance: ‘It’s not a talent problem. It’s a systems problem. Let’s fix it.’

That last stage is where the good stuff happens.

Which stage are you in right now? Drop it below. Stage 5 is closer than you think.

The version of me that doesn’t make it into the highlight reel.

The Spanish lesson at 6am that did not go well.
The client call I had to reschedule twice.
The website copy I rewrote four times before I was happy with it.
The afternoon I closed the laptop and sat by the water because the work wasn’t happening.

All of that is part of it too.
