CABB: Black Ledge Race and Miami to Key Largo Race coming up

Hi,

1. For April we will be doing a warm up race for the Miami Key Largo Race. The CABB race will be the annual Black Ledge Race, to be held on Saturday April 11, a week before the MKL Race. The coordinates for the Black Ledge race are listed below. We will first go to the Black Ledge Marker and then to the Biscayne Channel Marker #20 and then back to the beach. The crew meeting for this race will be on the Rickenbacker Causeway CABB launch beach at 10:30. Please have your boat all rigged and ready to sail by that time so we can get started on time. The first leg of the Black Ledge is about 10 miles and that will replicate the first 10 miles of the MKL. This will be a good shakedown for you and your boat if you are doing the MKL.

If you need a crew or want to crew let me know, and I will try to match you up for the race. You do not have to have a GPS for this race, but one would help you locate the marks if you are not familiar with their location. If you plan to do this race please let me know so I know how many boats to expect. If there are any last minute changes I will call those who have let me know they plan to attend.

2. The annual Miami to Key Largo Race is Saturday, April 18th. The return Key Largo to Miami Race will be to following day, Sunday, April 19th. You can do both of these races or either Saturday or Sunday. The easy registration can be found at the link below. Be advised that the less costly early registration ends tomorrow, April 1st at 23:59 hours. The late registration ends April 12 at 23:59 hours. So far there are 41 total boats registered of those 17 are multi hulls. This is the biggest race for beach cats each year. On the website you can see all the boats that are registered. Terry and I are registered. I hope you can make it as well. This will be the 71st running of this race. It is a great experience. I have been doing this race since 1980. It is a blast.
