For several years now, Nick, my old partner, and I have tried to figure out how we can work together again.

The timing was always off, life was complicated, and we both had other businesses to manage. Finally, in late 2024, we had put together a plan.

In March of 2025… a few weeks before my son Lucas passed, I sat in an office here at THE LOX. I took a picture of my computer screen as I was creating the new LOX LIFT brand and sent it to my wife, Jess, with the caption…

“My cup runneth over.”

I was having a moment of gratitude, telling her how blessed I felt to be back at the gym where it all started, building something new.

A few weeks later, my world flipped upside down. I locked myself in that back office, hid from everyone, and did everything I could to avoid going down dark rabbit holes.

A few days after Lucas’ mass, I sat with Nick for a heart-to-heart. I told him about the picture I’d sent Jess with the words… “my cup runneth over”, he immediately lifted his shirt and showed me his tattoo…

“Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Psalm 23.

I knew that wasn’t a coincidence. I knew that GOD’s timing had given me this new project to keep me distracted, keep me moving, keep me busy doing something that I love.

Then the people started coming. Faces from the past brought new faces. Slowly and organically, these walls started to have a pulse. Classes got larger. Music got louder. Smiles got bigger.

Although I’ll never understand why this happened or what prompted me to send Jess that picture and text. I do know that GOD is not letting me walk this valley alone.
