All classes will be canceled this weekend- October 19 & 20. Saito Sensei will be hosting his Fall Karate Seminar this weekend at the dojo.

Please take a moment to review the following updates!
2019 Annual Tokyo Budo Tour
September 9-18, 2019, 15 members of the Institute of Budo Studies went on a Budo Tour in Tokyo, Japan. Training sessions included Seitei Iaido training with 8-Time All Japan Champion- Kaneda Kazuhisa Sensei, Ryushin Shouchi Ryu Headmaster- Yahagi Kunikazu, and Kendo 7 DAN- Otsuka Norio Sensei along with various other prominent instructors. The tour ended with a special joint kendo & kobudo session at Kashima Shinto Shrine, the birthplace of Japanese swordsmanship. Several members also successfully passed examinations in Japan.

2019 Ryushin Shouchi Ryu & Kendo Seminar with Yahagi Kunikazu Soke from Japan
September 20-26, 2019, the Institute of Budo Studies hosted Ryushin Shouchi Ryu Soke and Kendo Kyoshi 7 DAN- Yahagi Kunikzau from Tokyo, Japan. The seminar consisted of Ryushin Shouchi Ryu kata and kumitachi along with Kendo Fundamentals.

Institute of Budo Studies Members Place @ Southeastern Regional Championships in Atlanta, GA
On October 5th, the Institute of Budo Studies Kendo Team competed at the 2019 Southeastern Kendo Championships in Atlanta, Georgia. In an excellent display of technique and spirit several medals were won.

Dear Members & Friends,
Kendo class will be canceled this Saturday (10/5) & Sunday (10/6) as most members will be participating at this year's Southeast Kendo Regional Championships in Atlanta.
We WILL have Iaido class this Saturday (10/5).
Japanese I will be combined with Sunday's Japanese class from 11:30am- 1:00pm permanently beginning on October 13 and will be offered at no charge until the end of the year.

Just a quick update. Yahagi Soke's Farewell Party will be held on Thursday (September 26) at Town Kitchen & Bar at 7:00pm.
We ask that members help offset the cost of the party by contributing $20 per person.
