What are the first steps to start playing Golf?

To start playing golf it might be a good idea to take some lessons. Look for a facility that offers individual or ladies’ group lessons.
Group lessons is a more economical way to start, and you will be in a class of ladies in your present skill set, beginner, intermediate, etc.
Of course you will need a set of golf clubs, but before you invest a lot of money into a new set, check out some garage sales, “Craig’s List” and the local bulletin boards at your local public courses for a used set. Pro shops can give you advice on what you are buying and also shopping the local golf stores which have a “pre-owned” section” is smart as well.
Ladies are savvy shoppers, so if you are lucky you could walk away with a nice set anywhere from $25-$50 dollars as some people buy new sets or just give up the game. A starter set configuration should be: Woods (1, 3), Hybrids (3, 4, 5), Irons, Putter (Mallet). Just be careful what you invest in and do your homework.
Another option is to ask your instructor if he has a student set you can use during your lessons. That way you can familiarize yourself with the different clubs and see if you wish to pursue the sport. Then, a pair of sneakers or golf shoes, and sunglasses. A collared tee shirt and shorts just above the knee is suitable for the course.
