What an incredible night. Thank you, Lucas!
Recently we had the privilege of hosting our longtime friend, athlete, and team rider for one of the most powerful and inspiring talks our community has ever experienced.
Lucas shared the story of his rise through professional kitesurfing, from traveling the world and landing magazine covers to becoming one of the sport’s top riders. Then, on May 23, 2024, everything changed.
Lucas lost his leg in a tiger shark attack.
What followed has become a story of resilience, recovery, and an incredible mindset. Through every challenge, Lucas has continued to move forward while inspiring people around the world with positivity and strength.
We put together a blog about this unforgettable evening and the impact his story had on everyone in the room.
We wrote a blog about the night check it out! : https://adventuresportsusa.com/blogs/sports/an-unforgettable-evening-with-lucas-arsenault-after-surviving-the-unthinkable

The Outlaw invitational PART 2 - Criss Cross
Saturday May 2 2026 was a day to remember. We ran it from Matheson Hammock Park to Nixon Sandbar and back with the crew from Cabrinha and Adventure Sports USA.
Wind was 18–25 knts from the south, and pretty much perfect, sunny and awesome.
First leg across the bay was quick. Everything jwas just right and we flew right across the bay in 30 minutes.
Pulled into Nixon and it was already a full scene. Boats, music, people everywhere. Then the kiters start going up and it turned into a full-on send fest. Big boosts, people cheering from the boats, a show in the best way.
The ride back is where it got real. Cross to upwind the whole way. Legs burning, working to get back, trying not to lose ground. Everyone in their own head just grinding it out.
We made it back just in time before the wind shifted. A couple hiccups, but a great time.
Those are the days that stick. Not because they’re easy, but because they are epic
Thank you to everyone that came, we will see you on the next one!

It’s getting closer to that time of the year again! Let’s hope a strong El Niño will deter the worst of them. If not, Miami’s local wind junkies are here to support! Thanks to all of ASM’s friends that always show up when it’s most needed! Power on!!!

UPDATE- moving the flight time a bit forward to 11:45 as the wind is filling in early. It’s also going left a bit early also. Planning to be back at Matheson by 3pm.
Miami Outlaw Round Two! "The Backside Ride"
Alright degenerates… round two. Same rules apply:
No support boats. No babysitters. Possible man-eating sharks. Absolutely no crying, even if you do lose your camera (Sofia). If you yard sale your gear mid-bay, congratulations—you’ve signed up for a 4-hour swim.
Plan of attack:
I’m rolling into Matheson Hammock Park by 1PM. If the wind shows up (and we pray it does), we’re launching straight across the bay toward Stiltsville like a pack of wild dawgs.
RACE- LEG 1:
Racing to a TBD finish point at NE Stiltsville. Twin Tips, Surf boards and tube kites will be scored. Free ride as you wish on Ram airs and foil boards, is just very shallow out there and having s**t that floats is good when things go bad.
STILTSVILLE SESSION:
We post up for an outlaw Big Air Booster. Highest jump—as judged by the same questionable crew you’re riding with—takes the glory. Style points optional.
RACE - LEG 2:
After about an hour of sending it, we regroup and light it up downwind to Nixon Sandbar.
Rare south winds = unique Miami Style riding opportunity. Nixon’s gonna be packed, so boys… don’t bring sand to the beach. It’s already there. (Joseph—be careful little fella...)
The Southern Nixon marker will be the finish, of Leg 2 (It's a very short ride). We ride the flats for ~35 minutes, then…
RACE - LEG 3:
Full send back across the bay to Matheson. Finish line = survival. After that, it’s beers, stories, and selective memory.
The reality check:
This is a “short” run—just under 13 miles.
But if you lose your gear halfway across, you’re not “waiting for a boat”… you’re swimming. For hours. In Biscayne Bay. Alone with your thoughts.
The wind will go SW at some point in which case those riders still on the water will not be riding home... Therefore, I'm on a schedule to make sure that I'm not swimming. Not herding cats this time! HA! It will be fun, but have to beat the direction change.
Bring your phone (waterproof or regret it), buddy up because it's just smart —but let’s be clear: you’re on your own out there. This is not an Adventure Sports event, although we know that we do host the best of them... it's a ride with Kent event... That's Papst Blue Ribbon, Red, White, and Blue mixed with a few raw oysters, and Sig 9mm for good measure. Yeehaw! MERICA!
If you’ve got tiny pencil legs (Jospeh), that first reach to Stiltsville is going to expose you like a skinny jean wear'n Californian at a rock'em, Sock'em Wyoming Bull Ride'n Rodeo! Likely a tight reach—some of you may need a tack or two. Tide’s dropping until 4PM, so expect fast, shallow, flat-water chaos over the flats.
Anyone game? Will post tomorrow morning if it's a go for me. If not, enjoy the windy Saturday!
