Looking forward to teaching in person at SOL in 2026! Located downtown near press coffee bar.

Each class we explore breathwork techniques, traditional mindfulness meditation, and deep guided experiences offering a restorative time for the body and mind. 🧘🏻‍♀️

Did you know that for generations there was no way of testing scientifically what meditation practice did for the practitioner. It was a purely internal experience discovered and verified by each individual within their own mind. Now technologies have allowed us to objectively measure some of the effects of meditation. 🧘🏻‍♀️

Science could be dismantling this ancient practice but with each new study it does just the opposite!

Meditation increases the amount of White matter in the brain. Unlike most skills, practicing meditation doesn’t just train a few specific brain areas. It develops the channels of communication between them. Two studies found that after just 4-weeks of mindfulness training, the corpus callosum and other white matter structures in the brain had grown physically larger. 🤯 🧠 ✨

These increases in white matter enable better communication between different parts of the brain. This could help explain how meditation increases our ability to regulate intense emotions and stress. It might also reveal why long-term meditators start to perceive all of reality as one great interconnected whole.

The amygdala is smaller in meditators vs non-meditators. The amygdala works like a trigger to fire off the body’s fight or flight response. A smaller amygdala may indicate a reduced tendency to activate fight or flight and consequently one may become better equipped at handling stressful situations with more clarity.

The link between increased gamma waves and loving-Kindness or metta meditation are so far out. Gamma waves are the fastest brain waves, oscillating at a frequency of 25-100 times per second. Practicing this type or meditation can also lead us to having greater Brain-heart coherence, which is when the communication between the brain and the heart is synchronized. 💚

Practicing stillness gives us the space to breathe, reground, and expand so we can feel what matters to us and move with purpose. In fact, with enough practice, we can see that stillness is the most powerful form of movement. Slowing down lets us touch the present moment deeply. When we are still, we can hear the gentle whispers from within that get lost in the noise of life.

We can see things as they truly are, without the blur and abstraction of tension that makes everything in life look like an obstacle instead of a miracle.

Imagine a pond on a calm day. When the water is still, it reflects the sky, clouds, and trees with peaceful clarity. When the wind blows, the water ripples and distorts the reflection. Our mind is like that pond. When it is still, it reflects the world clearly. When it is in motion—filled with urgency, worries, and distraction—our perception becomes unclear.

Creating a meditation practice daily offers us the opportunity to get in touch with clarity, intention, and bliss.
