Hi Everyone,
We will be holding a combination Pistol and Sh***un Shoot on Sunday 10/11/26 starting at 10:30am. If you prefer not to bring a sh***un, the courses of fire can also be shot solely with a pistol.
Note we have had a lot of shooters lately and in an effort to run the event more efficiently, we will start our safety briefing and walk through at 10:30am. This will give everyone a chance to ask questions to fully understand each course of fire prior to your turn on the firing line. Please remember your shooting position (once the order is announced) and be ready to shoot fully understanding how to shoot the course.
If you will be bringing a sh***un, bring at least 15 sh***un shells.
The sh***un shells must be lead #7.5, 8 or #9 target loads. No slugs, buckshot or steel shot.
For pistol bring 100 rounds, eye and ear protection.
Sh***uns will be checked as we do pistols. Then all sh***uns will be staged on a table, action open unloaded. When it is your turn, you will take the sh***un with action open to the course stage. You will close action on empty chamber and load 4 rounds in the tube. You will lay 4 more rounds on the table. On the buzzer, cycle action and engage each of 4 targets with 1 round each. Reload 4 rounds and re-engage another 4 targets. Then you will lay the sh***un on the table empty and chamber open.
If you have an o/u or sxs sh***un, it will be staged broken open. Then on the firing line, you can load the 2 rounds with safety on and place 6 rounds on table. Then lay gun broken open on table.
After finishing with scatter gun, you will go to the spot that requires you to draw your pistol and engage more targets.
We will go slow so everyone understands the rules and course of fire.
Normal safety rules will be followed like we always do.
It is recommended that you arrive for the safety meeting and gun check at 10:30, Shooting starts at 11:00. Set up help is always appreciated and we start setup at 9:30. If you will be arriving late, you must find a club Range Officer so they can check your gun and brief you on safety.
The cost is $10. All money goes to the club to keep the range open and operating.
1. The first and most important rule that we will strictly enforce is SAFETY.
2. You must be legally allowed to handle and shoot a pistol in NY State.
3. We operate a cold range. That means no loaded guns anywhere except when you are told to load while on the firing line. No handling of guns at all behind the firing line unless you are at the safe table with a range officer.
4. There will be a table as you walk up to the range that is a Safety Table. If you arrive with your gun in a box or rug, you will open and show gun empty, then re-box or holster. No am******on is allowed at the Safety Table. If you have your gun holstered as you approach the table, call a Range Officer and show that it is unloaded and you can re-holster. THAT IS THE ONLY TIME YOU MAY REMOVE YOUR GUN UNTIL YOU ARE ON THE FIRING LINE.
5. One exception to that rule is, if you have a malfunction or need for some reason to do something to your gun, you must notify one of the club Range Officers to use the Safety Table to fix your gun.
6. Am******on and magazine loading can be handled while waiting for your turn to shoot.
7. Your score/time is only for yourself to measure your own progress as we continue with this type of shooting.
8. If you draw in a fast wild west quick draw and become dangerous, we will correct you to slow down and be safe. If you have to be told more than once, we will have to ask you to leave for being unsafe. We do not want anyone leaving the shoot with more holes in them than what they arrived with.
