When Jake first walked through the doors of Sonny’s, he was just a young kid trying to find his place in the world.
Like so many before him, he came in unsure of himself. Quiet. Searching for confidence. Searching for something bigger.
What he found was a family.
Over the years, we’ve watched Jake grow into the kind of young man every parent hopes their child becomes. Respectful. Loyal. Selfless. Tough.
The road wasn’t always easy. There were bloody noses, black eyes, hard sparring sessions, and plenty of days where quitting would have been the easier choice. But Jake never quit. He kept showing up. He kept learning. He kept fighting.
Eventually, the kid who was taking those punches became the young man giving them back. One of my favorite memories was watching him stand toe to toe with a grown man at one of our smoker shows and earn every ounce of respect in that building.
But what makes Jake special has nothing to do with boxing.
He’s the first one to ask how he can help. The first one to support his teammates. The guy taking out the trash without being asked. The guy showing up to every event to cheer on the people around him. The guy who understands that being part of a team means putting others before yourself.
Jake is the living definition of what Sonny’s is all about.
Today, that young boy who walked into our gym unsure of himself is leaving as a man, answering a higher calling and preparing to become a United States Marine.
A young man willing to serve something greater than himself and protect the freedoms we all enjoy.
People always thank me for what I’ve done for them through boxing. But the truth is, Jake, you’ve helped me just as much as I ever helped you.
You were here from Day One.
You’ve helped build the culture, the standards, and the brotherhood that make Sonny’s special.
Watching you grow up has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.
I’m proud of the fighter you’ve become.
I’m proud of the man you’ve become.
And most of all, I’m proud to call you my friend.

Some people walk through the doors of a gym and become members.
Others become family.
When Tristian came here from China, he was looking for a place to train. What he found was a second home.
From day one, his character stood out. Respectful. Humble. Hardworking. Disciplined. The kind of person who never asks for recognition, but earns everyone’s respect through his actions.
It didn’t take long for all of us to grow to love not only Tristian, but his wife as well. They embody everything Sonny’s is about. Loyalty. Love. Having each other’s backs. Showing up for your teammates. Being there when someone needs a hand, whether inside the ring or outside of it.
The strongest thing a person can build isn’t a punch. It’s trust. And Tristian has earned that from every person in this gym.
We are grateful that life brought you through our doors. It is a privilege to train you, an honor to call you family, and a blessing to watch your journey continue.
I never show this side of myself…
Some victories aren’t won under bright lights. Some aren’t announced by a ring announcer. Some don’t come with a belt around your waist.
My greatest accomplishments call me Dad.
These kids have grounded me in ways boxing never could. They’ve taught me patience, perspective, and what truly matters when the noise of the world fades away. Every laugh, every lesson, every moment spent together is a reminder that success isn’t measured by trophies, titles, or business achievements. It’s measured by the people you love and the legacy you leave behind.
Watching them grow has been the greatest journey of my life. I don’t know exactly where their paths will lead, but I know one thing for sure… their potential is limitless.
The sky isn’t the limit. It’s just the beginning. ❤️

UNDER THE BRIGHT LIGHTS OF SONNY’S BOXING 🥊🔥
The same ring that has hosted New England Championships, Junior Olympic tournaments, International Masters competitions, and club shows belonged to the beginners tonight.
No records. No rankings. No shortcuts.
Just people willing to step outside their comfort zone and test themselves under the lights.
This is where confidence is built.
This is where future champions are born.
This is where the next generation gets its start.
A huge thank you to everyone who showed up, laced up the gloves, and supported one another. The energy in the building was incredible.
If you’re a beginner looking for quality sparring in a safe, controlled environment, we’ll be hosting more nights like this very soon.
The future is coming… and they’re already putting in the work.

When they first walked in, they usually have no idea what they’re doing. Now this place feels like home. This is what a real boxing gym looks like.

Some people are built for technology.
Danny is not some people.
Give him a boxing ring, a business problem, or a 5 AM workday and he’s ready. Give him a printer with a blinking light and suddenly it’s a trigonometry final exam at Harvard University.
What started as a simple “print one piece of paper” turned into a full 12-round heavyweight battle against buttons, error messages, Wi-Fi signals, and pure frustration.
No printers were harmed in the making of this reel…
…but they definitely came close. 😂🥊
Watch the crash out unfold.
A lot of people will clap when you’re winning. Very few will stand beside you while you’re building.
From the first day we met, Nolan Bros and I clicked. There was mutual respect from day one. No agendas. No competition. Just two people who understood the value of loyalty, hard work, and supporting one another.
They recently put on a historic event for the 2nd time! They hosted a show at the legendary Fenway Park! It cannot be touched. So proud of my brother’s.
Matt Nolan was interviewed after. What he said meant a lot to me.
I want to sincerely thank the Nolan Bros and the entire Nolan Bros Boxing Promotions family, not only for their friendship and support over the years, but also for publicly acknowledging the support I’ve given them. That recognition means more than you know.
In a world where some people sit back and criticize, real friends show up, support your vision, and want to see you win.
The haters watch.
The real ones help build.
Thank you for being real ones. Thank you for being brothers. The respect is mutual, and I look forward to many more years of working together and growing the sport we all love.

Back to it!
Everybody talks about the physical.
Not enough people talk about the mental.
The truth is… the mental side of sports can be heavier than any workout, any sparring round, any fight.
Confidence. Doubt. Pressure. Timing. Belief.
That battle happens long before the bell rings.
At Sonny’s, Nick Colarusso has always been one of our staples. The kind of teammate every gym hopes for. Respected by everyone. Loved by everyone. Heart of a lion and always willing to give for the team.
Lately, he’s been in a rut.
And if you’ve ever played a sport, stepped in a ring, or chased something big… you know those moments can feel louder than anything.
But this is where team matters.
This is where family matters.
Nick is gritty. Nick is talented. Nick is all heart.
And we know exactly who he is.
Sometimes the strongest fighters need the people around them to help carry the weight for a minute until they find that spark again.
That’s what we do here.
We pick each other up. We stay in the corner. We believe when it’s hard to believe.
He’ll get out of this rut.
And when he does… everybody’s gonna remember exactly why Nick Colarusso is the heart and soul of Sonny’s Boxing.
We love you, brother.
Let’s get back to work. 🥊❤️
