MMS Vikings Football

Gratitude.

The 2024 MMS Vikings Football season came to a close this week, with the 7th grade beating Emmett on Monday night, and the 8th grade suffering a tough loss to the Huskies on Wednesday night.
While it was a disappointing way to end the season for the 8th grade team, the loss does not define them, nor does it diminish their overall success and potential. Those boys will go on and do great things in the years ahead.

Football is a sport that requires a unified team effort. Coaching football is not much different. The MMS Vikings Football Program was fortunate to have these 4 dedicated men come together to help out over the course of the last two years:

Defensive Coach Travis Emery
Receivers & DBs Coach Mark Pittard
Linemen Coach Jacob Fowler

These gentlemen showed a deep and genuine care for every player on the team, and they all made various personal sacrifices in order to be at practice everyday, and assist in any way they could. They showed tremendous buy-in, and often put their pride and ego aside for the sake of the team, and the mission. While they all came from different backgrounds, with different perspectives, they all were unified in wanting what was best for these boys, not only in football, but in life. Each of them provided a daily example of what it means to be a good man, a good father, and a good husband. In short; They're good human beings.

The MMS Vikings Football Program would be remiss if it did not recognize, acknowledge and thank these fine men for their commitment and hard work throughout these last two seasons.

Gentlemen, your help has been invaluable, your contributions have been incalculable, and your influence has been immeasurable. The impact you have made will ripple for generations.

Congratulations to the MMS 7th Grade Football team on their 25-0 victory over Emmett! The team finished the season with a 5-0 division record (6-1 overall), and secured 1st place last night, making them the West Division Champs!
Also, congratulations to Coach Salinas, on his third consecutive championship win!

Giving Back.

On Thursday, October 3rd, the MMS Football Program worked hand in hand with Xylem, in an effort to give back to the community by helping clean up garbage and debris near the waterways just south of the middle school. Over 80 volunteers participated in the service project, which consisted of 7th and 8th graders and their coaches.
For their efforts, Xylem Water Solutions will be making a generous donation to The MMS Vikings Football Program, to help them offset the cost of new and necessary equipment.
The MMS Football Program would like to thank Xylem Water Solutions for the opportunity, as well as their generosity.
Way to go, Vikings!

Schedule Update!

Our Middle School football teams will be closing out their seasons on the turf, under the lights, at Middleton High! Please come out and show your support for these fine young men!

We had some outstanding performances from a couple of outstanding players this week. These gentlemen contributed in Tuesday's victories with their grit, resiliency, and the decision to dominate. Way to BE the hammer, Vikings!

Both teams got it done yesterday, on the road! The 8th grade team rolls into a bye week, as the 7th grade team prepares to travel to Lonestar Middle School next Tuesday.

The MMS Vikings Football Program continues to have players step in big ways, in big moments, and drop a big hammer. Well, done gents!

Tough loss for the 7th grade team today, but the 8th grade came away with a solid team win. Both teams go on the road next week, to take on Sage Valley.

Come out and support your MMS Vikings this evening, as they face the East Valley Wildcats at home! Bring a rain jacket! Good possibility of football being played in the rain. Also, we'll be selling tickets for the Blackstone Griddle Raffle!

Both MMS Vikings Football teams went and took care of business in Summitvue last Tuesday. It's a few days late, but recognition is still in order for these two players that "brought the hammer", earning their place as the Mjölnir Player Of The Game.
