“I’m so excited to announce that I’m officially committing to Cayuga Community College! I want to take a moment to thank every coach who has helped me along the way, believed in me, pushed me to become a better player, and supported me throughout this journey. I’m especially grateful for my parents, and most importantly, my mom, for all the sacrifices she has made and the countless hours she has spent supporting me, taking me to practices, games, camps, and everything in between. I’m also extremely grateful for my dad, who has always supported me, encouraged me to keep pushing even when things got difficult, and been there for me through every game, practice, win, and loss. His support and belief in me have meant more than he knows and have helped me become the player and person I am today. I’m thankful for all the people who have been by my side and dedicated their time to supporting me on the softball field. Every person who showed up, encouraged me, and believed in me has played a part in getting me to where I am today. Most importantly, I want to thank God for blessing me with the talent, opportunities, strength, and amazing people in my life who have helped me reach this point. I’m beyond grateful for this next chapter and excited for what the future holds. Go Spartans! ❤️🖤”

Middletown had 19 teams qualify for and receive NYS scholar-athlete recognition during the 2025-26 school year, breaking the record 17 set during the 2024-25 school year. To be eligible, 75 percent of a varsity team must have a combined classroom average of at least 90 percent.

"This has been a banner year for Middletown athletics. Earning a school-record 19 NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete Teams across the fall, winter, and spring seasons, surpassing our previous best of 17, is a tremendous accomplishment, and one our entire community should be proud of," said David Coates, Director of Physical Education, Health and Athletics.

Last night, the Middletown Varsity Softball team gathered at Oak & Reed Downtown

A special congratulations goes out to Sophia Sanchez, who was awarded our very first Middletown Softball Scholarship. This milestone represents not only her accomplishments on the field but also the positive impact she has made on our program. We are proud to honor her as the inaugural recipient of this award.

We would also like to recognize two athletes whose commitment and performance stood out this season:
