Two things you can be practicing with your toddler to build confidence and competency outside of lessons🌊

1. Gliding into swimming position. No kicks, just a soft push that helps them start a successful swim, but also allows them to find a nice float and allow the water to do the work. Eyes all the way down, facing the bottom of the pool.
2. Under water exploration for dive toys, and floating back up to a safety point. Environmental awareness is critical in swimming at all ages, but especially in learn to swim. Understanding where you are and how to stay calm in order to allow the water to lift you back to the surface can save lives.

On his way to learning proper body alignment for front floating. Once a student learns front floating, it’s like they’ve unlocked the door to swimming. Front floating allows the water to do most of the work. Why is this important? Well, most children will naturally go vertical (standing position) and tire themselves out trying to get to their destination (safety). Without understanding how their body works WITH the water, in can be a long and challenging road to safer, effective, efficient and overall more FUN swimming 🌊

We would have loved to feel more of the sun today at our outdoor pools, but either way… SUMMER IS HERE! 🌊☀️

If you’re new to swimming lessons and you’re little one is still acclimating, this message is for you! 💙

Crying can occur when a toddler is in a learning phase. Like learning how to walk, falling down and having to get back up again, or going off to preschool for the first day and having to enter a whole new world.

It’s important to know that every swimmer is different. Learning trust, confidence and independence takes time and consistency from the teacher, parents and student.

It’s important to understand that as educators we’re trying to connect with your children and assure them that they are safe, we can help them and we can do hard things together!

Trust the process! 🌊

This little guy showing off his skills 🌊💙

06/16/2026

If your little one understands how their body works in the water, they’re far more likely to make better decisions in and around the water. Watch this guy jump, go from vertical to horizontal (swimming) position. Getting right into swimming position after the jump into the water allows him to propel himself to safety efficiently and effectively vs. getting stuck vertically without any forward progress. Way to go buddy 🌊👍🏼
